Recently backed into a dustbin and broke my rear lamp. Bought one on ebay advertised to fit 2002 to 2006 and opening up looked exactly the same as my broken one right down to the 6 pin plug. However when trying to fix it, although it appeared exactly the same discovered that the fixing holes were not aligned. The top hole was too high. Anyone know where l can source one that fits preferably send hand. Many thanks.

Not sure if it’s the same problem but the year the van was registered may not be the year of manufacture hence the light not quite fitting. It’s possible the previous model may have slightly different fittings.

Thanks for that Dave. I believe 2002 was a changeover year. The end of one series and also the start of a new series - hence my problem. The one l bought must have been the new series.

Very likely. Vans sit waiting for conversion, so although registered in 2002, it's prob a 2001 model which is when the Boxer had a few small modifications. You see a lot of Boxer parts 'up to 2001' and '2002 to 2006'. Plenty of van breakers around the country.Dave 418 wrote:Not sure if it’s the same problem but the year the van was registered may not be the year of manufacture hence the light not quite fitting. Re: Hi to everyone.Symbol rear light replacement
Does it fit exactly into the existing cavity, in other words is it identical in form to the original?
Does it work as it should via the 6 pin plug?
If so, try marking through the offending hole and see if its possible to drill another to suit. Be absolutely certain of what's on the other side of where the hole will be, if in doubt, don't!
Only suggest this as you already have the incorrect one, if not, Paul's suggestion more practical.
