Re: Trooper fly roller blinds
I would like to know about this as well, the frames are very tired and some have broken. I might be able to refurbish them myself but wondered if anyone does them, or could do them to order.
Cheers,
Steve.

Did you manage to find out more information on this? I need to replace one - someone decided to slice the reflective 'light out' section but wouldn't mind replacing all if the new type fit.....

Re: Trooper fly roller blinds
Hi, I have the same problem on a 96 Trooper. The blinds are all shot and the guides are mostly distorted. AS can supply (for 2 of the windows) a later fly screen / blind that can apparently be made to fit. They cost £50 each. I presume that AS don't actually manufacture the components, so there must be an alternative out there...
Kind regards, Dave

I'm afraid it doesn't necessarily follow. Some component makers have no retail presence at all, so unless someone decides to sell - retail - what is not normally sold to the public, you will struggle to find a way to buy the parts in anything other than wholesale quantities.Davismo wrote:I presume that AS don't actually manufacture the components, so there must be an alternative out there...

Mojo, Yes, I take your point. Glad I didn't throw any of the bits away. My frames are distorted through the van spending significant amounts of time in Spain. Might try removing them and applying some heat to re-shape them...

Re: Trooper fly roller blinds
companies like O'Leary's motorhomes etc can supply blinds/blind kits. I just googled and eventually found some stockists. Have taken mine out cos they didn't work anymore and were unrepairable but haven't replaced yet as very expensive.

Hi,
I might give O'Leary's a look. If it's any help I have established that the AS blinds are made by Seitz (Dometic) replacement catches that might fit the older style blinds seem to be available on ebay. A wide range of sizes seems to be available for the current styles, but I haven't checked how they compare to my van...

Re: Trooper fly roller blinds
I think these blinds were made by Seitz (now part of Dometic). I have taken most of mine apart, cleaned them and re-tensioned the return spring. For the most part this was successful but it's really fiddly and accessing the blinds behind the cooker unit etc is nigh on impossible without some serious cabinet removal as the bottom cassette is fixed below cabinet level.
I reckon that the failure of the blinds must be down to their inherant fragile nature and owners leaving the blinds in the closed position for long periods of time with the return spring therefore tensioned. These old cassette blinds should always be left retracted when not in use. Instructions for repair are available online with a bit of 'Google digging'. Obtaining identical replacements seems to be impossible and a compromise with a modern equivalent might be the answer. I will try to find the web pages I used if that would help?
