New Mercedes
Hi
Has any taken delivery of a new Mercedes Motorhome yet, despite in the Handbook it being shown as having a hydraulic jack, it does not,the listed compartment under the passenger seat does not exist. No mention either of a compressor as fitted to my last model.
regards
Alan

Re: New Mercedes
On my 2010 Devon there wasn't a Jack, compressor was under seat on drivers side accessible with door open, as there was no spare wheel.

Re: New Mercedes
The latest 2020 Sprinter brochure has spare wheel and hydraulic jack listed as standard for RWD & AWD versions.
Compressor was only supplied with Spare omission to enable the gloop repair alternative.

Re: New Mercedes
Hi Peter
Well my Sprinter is a 2019/20 new registration and like most Motorhomes has no spare wheel or room underneath to carry one, the handbook shows Hydraulic Jack stowage in the chassis space under the passenger seat. there is no access panel and if you look underneath the chassis is just open, very strange .I will ask a dealer?
Regards

Re: New Mercedes
The jack is stated to be in the footwell of the passenger seat, with tools in the compartment under the driver's seat, just like the 2010 version you had previously.( manual actually for left hand drive so states under the co-drivers seat ie UK Driver's seat). Page 227.

Re: New Mercedes
You don't say which MB model you currently have (your profile shows a Gloucester) - I believe all of the long wheel base chassis Mercedes have a spare wheel - or at least they use to!gemdeco wrote:Hi Peter

I think it's only the short WB chassis that do not have a spare wheel.
That said, I would not attempt to change a wheel myself using the jack supplied - far too dangerous - I would always call the recovery service who will hopefully use a trolley jack.

Hi Liam
Sorry to be a bit of a fraud, I enjoy the forum and I hope i have contributed to it while I have owned an Autosleeper. I decided to sell it as I was offered a good price in part exchange and a discount on a new van, with in my view all the problems AS were having with their new MH's especially the Mercedes models I purchased a new Burstner Lyseo Harmony line M660 on a Mercedes chassis.
Regards

Re: New Mercedes
No problem Alan,
I don't think you are a fraud at all, a genuine question from a Mercedes chassis owner!
As far as I can deduce, the chassis on your vehicle is the short wheel base (as per the AS Burton) where there is insufficient room to have a spare wheel fitted. All of the larger AS Mercedes vans have a spare wheel slung underneath - well at least they use to!
It might be interesting to some on the forum to learn of your experiences with the new van, particularly any issues relating to the interface between chassis and habitation.
Enjoy your new acquisition and I hope you continue to contribute to the forum discussions.

Re: New Mercedes
I had a Hymer MB580 which was on a short wheelbase Mercedes chassis. Even with this so called premium marque no spare wheel or jack etc was provided when new, only an air pump and a container of in extremis puncture repair fluid. So Autosleeper isn’t alone in its misery ness.

Hi
At 6.9mtrs long it is slightly shorter than my old Gloucester, similar layout with the french bed , by having less options (no drop down bed) It is plated at 3500kgs which I hope will be workable.I had my Gloucester weighed at it came out at 3400kgs but it did have a spare wheel which I think was an extra.my van is definitely not a swb ,I thinkit is lwb but I have looked underneath and there is no room for a spare wheel.

On our 19 Bourton there is no spare wheel.
The hydraulic jack is behind a flap on the drivers step - not the seat. Note - the manual hasn't covered all the differences between left and right hand drive vehicles. Advice given in the event of a flat tyre is to call a specialist or use the Pro Connect service for breakdown assistance using the call button in the central overhead panel. That would be my option!
Also in the passenger footwell under where your feet sit is a compartment with a small, but limited, toolkit.
Hope this info is useful!

Re: New Mercedes
Hi Everyone
My Mercedes is right hand drive but I think it may not be completely to UK Spec, hence no Jack, I have no cubby holes accessible from the steps well either side my Sprinter may be a later model as it is classed a 2020 year,do you have the new dashboard?
regards
