Hab door lock on Broadway Empty Hab door lock on Broadway

Post by AndyRoyd Tue Oct 06, 2020 5:16 pm

Been away in the Cotswolds for the last few days, to say it was wet would be an understatement.
Arrived back home today and the Hab door appears to be broken, the external handle is loose and the door will not close or lock, I have used the fiamma to keep it closed for now along with the alarms.
Any ideas as to what I should look for, think it is a Hartal door, will look at it tomorrow but would appreciate any thoughts.

Try locking and unlocking all doors with the key fob.

I've had the same problem. The lock seems to get out of synch, but repeated fiddling with the key fob, locking and unlocking both cab and habitation doors sorted it out.

Have a play - you've nothing to lose, and it will do no further damage.

Stripped the door down today whilst it was dry, that was fun but could not find anything wrong, no signs of wear or broken bits.
Lubricated all the parts, mostly of plastic construction and put it all back together and it works, the only thing I could see happening is that the external handle pushes against a plastic lever, I think this must have jumped out of position and gone beyond its movement.
When I stop the van I normally open the door from the drivers door switch, I didn't this time but opened the hab door with its own internal handle which I have occasionally done in the past but nearly always open and lock the hab door with the remote (I have it set to drop the step) I have trained the wife to do this and to open the cab doors at the same time, we once had an incident with the hab door locking itself when closing it and the cab doors where locked of course the keys where inside.
Oh well live and learn, now I just have to sort out the airbag problem I have been living with for the last few months.
