Vehicle battery charging 2008 Symbol
Hi All
Just wondered if anybody could help with another anomaly. On the control panel it says that the vehicle battery is low, however it is fine. I can put the vehicle battery "on charge" via the panel and I can here what I presume to be a relay clicking in to divert the charger. However after leaving it on overnight the Vehicle battery still says low charge on the panel. Do you think that the engine battery is not wired into the system? The vehicle battery is fully charged and starts the van no problem. Thanks

There are a number of things that can cause this but the first thing to do is find and check the A/S fitted fuses adjacent to the engine battery. If they (and the fuse holder itself) are Ok, you can then move on to check for more complex failures.

I don't think the control panel in a vehicle of that vintage shows the vehicle battery voltage.
It shows the leisure voltage. The hab/vehicle switch directs the charge to either battery, but does not function to choose and read the voltage.

Roopert, Thanks for the reply. I can find no fuses near the engine battery which is underneath the cab floor and accessible by removing the floor panel. All fuses and relays are in a spaghetti junction adjacent to the leisure battery under the O/S side seat. Having spoke to another AS symbol owner of the the same year, his is the same and he has had it since new. It charges the leisure battery no problem. and also is working on split charge whilst driving.

Steve. You infer in your opening post that the control panel is telling you about the vehicle battery. I am simply pointing out that the meter on the control panel will not read the state of the vehicle battery. It refers to the leisure battery exclusively'
