Bike carrier for 2019 Warwich XL
Am thinking of buying 2 electric bikes but before I do I want to be certain that I can get a suitable bike carrier to fit on my 2019 Warwick XL. Have no preference for a door or towball fitted carrier but would like to open the rear doors without taking the rack off.
Would very much appreciate receiving advice from any members as to what they consider the best option.
Thank you.

I’m no expert but I’ve got a superb Thule rack on the back door of my Symbol which is great for 2 normal bikes but I’m not sure I would hang 2 heavy electric bikes off it.
Towball rack for electric bikes would be my thinking but that means you can’t open the rear doors.
I think there was a solution posted recently but it was expensive.

Yes - as discussed in another thread recently. Towball-mount usually means you don't have so high to lift, and typically have a lighting board/number plate mount built-in, but they stick out more.
Plenty of products around that fold, hinge or slide out of the way from manufacturers such as Thule, MaxxRaxx, Atera and others.

We had a maxxraxx but I would not have used it for electric bikes see here [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] expensive but secure and well engineered.

I would be careful of fitting a rack secured to the door, I have read and seen on here of damage to the door edges.
I have a Thule door rack with security bolts through the door for extra strength and support, but I do not carry electric bikes and have not had any trouble, yet.
I also had to fit a lighting board.
Search on forum, the subject has been raised before.

I suspect the electric bikes will be okay without the batteries. Am veering towards a towball solution but please keep suggestions coming. Thank you.

Any damage to the doors from door mounted racks will be from not fitting the rack correctly, I have the carry bike on our fair ford, but wouldn’t put two electric bikes on it unless I could remove the batteries.

Check your handbook for the max weight recommended for hanging on the doors. I can’t recall the figures now but it was less than the bike rack is capable of bearing.

Thank you. Had ignored the handbook because typically I have found motor handbooks less than helpful but will check. Will also ring Peugeot dealer now that they should be open for business again.

We’ve got a Thule 933300 Easyfold XT 2-Bike Towbar Carrier which clamps on towball. Expensive solution as towbar via Witter was £600 fitted & rack around £500. Works well but you can’t open rear doors with bikes on rack. Rack folds up for storage at home when not in use.

Thank you. That really does seem to be the optimal solution for me.

We wanted to open the rear doors on our Warwick and it was too much trouble with the bikes there. The van swing was purchased from a forum member and us just what we wanted.

Not having rear doors, So not a problem,my towbar bike rack can be lowered away from the van, and I think some that do this allow you to open rear doors. Was something on the forum about this particular rack.

Hello - if you do go for a door mount see my post here about the e-bike rack I fixed to my Harmony

Re: Bike carrier for 2019 Warwich XL
I have an Atera Strada towball mounted bike rack on my Kingham. After research got a 3 bike rack and carry our two bikes on the back two positions leaving the one closest to the doors empty. The rack extends and folds down just leaving enough room to open the rear doors. Ebikes are quite heavy to lift onto door mounted racks, towball mounted racks are much lower. You just have to get used to the fact that they do clamp securely to the ball, though both racks flex over bumps

Thanks. It's the lifting factor that decided me to go for the towball product. My daughter has one on her Volkswagen campervan and so far she is very happy with it.
