Sliding window drain holes
Just finished cleaning my 2018 Symbol and thought that I would check the sliding window drain slots.
The top of the opening looks clear but I couldn’t see the actual drain hole and if it is possible to push something down to make sure that it is clear right through. Any advice please.
Thanks
Pete

Re: Sliding window drain holes
I flattened a plastic bottle and cut a thin strip, narrow enough to enter the drain.
It appeared below the window on the outside, preceded by some debris.
It did the trick. Keith

Thanks Kieth, the cable tie that I was trying with must be too thick for the hole.
I’ll give your bottle tip a go.

I use the plastic strip that often comes around large parcels, but then Being a hoarder I tend to keep anything that I think might be useful.
To be honest these thin strips can be used for loads of jobs ( I used one last week to feed cable through on some fog/DRLs I have just fitted.

Re: Sliding window drain holes
Hello all.
I have the problem with water ingress via the sliding glass windows on my van and have been puzzled regarding the location of drain holes and how to check whether they are blocked. All I can see is that there is a slot in the window runner but can't get a rod (or wire etc ) to go through , attempts seem to just hit a solid barrier - not a blockage. Although the van is 9 years old one of the windows was replaced 2 years ago but still doesn't clear water effectively. Does anyone have any photos or instructions showing location of drain holes ? How does water drain from the runner and through the sealant between the main window and van body ?
By trial and error I have determined it is coming in around the sliding opening windows, i have taped and sealed them and the water stops so its definitely a drain hole problem.

Re: Sliding window drain holes
Have a look at the thread in the link below. It’s the most informative of several threads on this recurring problem in my view and will hopefully address your questions.
I’ve tried poking wires, cable ties and canned compressed air into the drain holes without much success and the procedure described in the link is on my list of warmer weather tasks.

Thanks Tim,
The photos are the only informative details I've found so far, now at least I understand the drain arrangement.
Just remains to sort the practicality of finding and clearing them.

Re: Sliding window drain holes
Cleared the blocked outlet on the little window in the sliding door by using a football adapter clipped into an electric compressor.. apparently it’s what dealers use. Don’t expect the water to flow away fast as they are tiny holes
