The A55 of course gives a quick getaway to a major port.

Two more stolen last week. One at St Asaph, and one at Colwyn Bay. They appear to be targeting Fiat Ducato based MHs.

The one stolen from St. Asaph has been found by N.Wales police in Halkyn, so opposite direction to where I thought it would be heading (Holyhead).

Re: Motorhome thefts - N Wales
Surely saying that the thieves are targeting Fiat Ducato based motorhomes is fairly self evident when about 80% or more of UK motorhomes are Ducato based. And Boxer and Relay bases are basically identical and from the same factory, just with different engines and trim.

Ireland is renowned for stolen vehicles [and dogs] from the UK and also a much less secure exit port for France.....for nowTeamRienza wrote:Why would these stolen vans be heading to Holyhead ?

Re: Motorhome thefts - N Wales
There was a fairly large illicit trade in stolen motorhomes being sent to Ireland a few years back. They were supposed to have been re-registered over there and then offered for sale back here on their new reg. I could never understand how that could work, given the need for VIN numbers etc and a used van requiring reregistration should immediately raise suspicions. Having said that the report I saw was that after several arrests the trade had been stopped.

I believe the majority now go to African countries and middle East. Container ships go from Dublin to such countries, so Holyhead is quickest way to leave our shores to Dublin for transporting onto Africa etc.

I agree Paulmold aswell as Europe via France. The arrests merely took the operations underground.
