Help please, in France leisure battery died
Hi all we are in France heading for angouleme, on way to Spain, leisure battery not charging past 12.7 then with just led light falls to 9v in about 2 hours and system shuts down. Need to change it, firstly anyone know where I can get a new one, Google brought up volteo, but any suggestions welcome. Second when I change it I just turn off ECU, remove battery fuse then neg then pos??? Refit is reverse? Is that correct. Any help appreciated as it's very cold and dark. Thanks

Re: Help please, in France leisure battery died
When mine died in Denmark, I couldn't find a specialist motorhome battery outlet so I disconnected the dead battery, put it on my bicycle rack, and wobbled to a nearby garage. They found me the nearest size car battery (before you go, measure any critical dimension e.g. height of space for battery in van). Reconnected. Lasted for 10 years thereafter.
Good point in thread about covering a solar panel if you have one. And obviously, switch off mains supply when fiddling. Bon chance!

Yes that is the way I changed our leisure battery when it failed.
On finding a replacement, I suppose I would try a local garage and if they speak English try and find a battery dealer nearby.
Angouleme is a big place and there seemed to be many industrial areas I saw when driving through on the ring road. At least you are not in the wild areas.
Hope you get sorted, have you Motorhome breakdown, just a thought they have some contacts. Local campsites are closed I assume, as they may have some ideas.
Just running through my head what I would do.

As is typical on Sunday’s many places seem to be closed around Angoulême. Could you possibly park up at an Aire overnight, with EHU. Then visit somewhere Monday morning in Angoulême. There are appear to be a number of caravan and motorhome dealers in that vicinity who could help ?

Searching Google for "campingcar angouleme" shows a motorhome sales location just outside Angouleme (on the D393 to the south-east) who re-open from their Christmas break tomorrow or Tuesday, is that too late? Says they have a large choice of accessories in store and offer an on-site installation service.

yes, ypu could try and resolve while on the way through france, but as you say, a bit cold....in the absense of many open sites en route, you could use aires with ehu, assuming this would give you light via mains, and of course heat....assuming gas heating is an issue with no fan as its 12v?
if you make it to Spain, you can get in site, with hook up, and spurce a new battery without the same pressure...
good luck either way.

Here is hoping Spockydog is on the way to sorting his battery problem, as he seems to have gone.

Well let’s hope so ... but give them a chance, they may have reception/connection difficulties ...

Back again, minus 5 last night so took some thawing out, Volteo, shops all over France, very helpful, changed it for me, reset control panel all going well and fingers crossed heading for Spain. Big thanks to everyone's help. For those interested pro AGM battery 204 Euros which all things considered is ok.
