Re: location of 20amp in line 12 v fuse
Hi Everyone An Update.
I called in a mobile caravan/ motorhome expert who advises that the Zig mc4000m control panel is the problem and needs to br replaced. He is so busy that he cannot consider a repair until later in the year.
My enquiries show that this unit was produced exclusively for Autosleeper and is no longer available. The Zig technican is on holiday for the next two week so they cannot help immediately.
I have been unable to get a reponse fro A/S so far.
I will keep you posted but as usual any suggestion of a solution would be welcome.

Re: location of 20amp in line 12 v fuse
If it was me and I was sure that the existing one could not be fixed at a reasonable cost, I would get my pencil & paper out and work out what it actually does:
1: Water tank gauge - can be bought as a separate unit if the existing one doesn't work.
2: Crude BCI - Get (a better) one off ebay quite cheaply.
3: Green light to say the battery charger is working - it's a warning light, nothing complex about that!
4: Switch for the water pump - an on / off rocker switch.
5: Switch for 12v circuits - a switch and probably a relay, again, not rocket science.
6: A fuse / junction box - and a pretty carp one at that, you can get better ones from VWP or Maplins or ???
I'm sure that I could construct something to perform all these tasks without spending an arm or a leg, and probably still use the existing fascia panel to keep it looking originalish

Frank,
I much appreciate your suggestions and the trouble you have taken,
I have had the system completed checked out today by my son in law( i did not want to bother him originally ) who although not an electrician by trade is pretty handy and responsible
The advice gieven by the " mobile carvan /motorhome expert " was quite wrong.. There is no fault in the control panel .The problem lies somewhere between the battery and the Zig battery charger.
It would appear to be a relay causing the problem and I will replace this after the Holiday weekend . If this does not work we will make a direct link with a 20 amp fuse to from the battery to the battery charger, a solution that has been tested and works.
I will keep ypu posted.

Many thanks to all of you who have given advise on this, particularly Frank who suggested checking wire connections.
The problem was resolved when a loose earth connection to the chassis was found in the battery compartment.
I feel stupid for not having thought of this possibility earller .I wonder how the caravan/motorhome expert will feel when I tell him his advice that a new Zig control panel was required was totally wrong !

fuses
I recently hda problem with a fuse which the local autoelectrician found (after an hours checking) to be a hairline crack a fuse, this was not obvious, if all else fails try putting a meter across your fuses.

Re: location of 20amp in line 12 v fuse
i know this is an old thread but i'm having the same issue.
I have checked the 6 fuses in the zig panel and all are OK.
Where is the 20amp fuse?
Beneath the drivers seat all i can see if the leisure battery.
Can i check the leisure battery with a multimeter, do i need to take the leads off the battery or is there some safety procedure i need to take first?
Thanks for any help
