Fridge door lock jammed down Empty Fridge door lock jammed down

Post by gbaylis1957 Sat Oct 05, 2019 2:03 pm

Just found someone has pushed the pin in the fridge lock down when the door was open and now try as we might, can't get the pin up so we can close the fridge, the little green button not releasing the pin up when you press it..

Any ideas about how to release the lock.

Great fun all this...

Thanks

Have you tried some silicone spray or WD40?

If it is anything like the one on my 2003 Symbol, there should be a Philips screw on the top of the lock. Remove the lock - which will allow you to close the fridge - and then at your leisure, apply a loosening agent suchas WD40 to get it working again.

You don't say what model of fridge you have, but my recollection of Electrolux fridges of that time is that pressing down the green button caused the pin to lock down, and pressing in the small grey tab beside it caused the pin to release.
