Rear Indicators
Driving home in my new Bourton from the Dealers wondering when overtaking on the motorway or on roundabouts why people kept flashing and banging their hones and shaking fists etc. We could find nothing outside wrong with the Van but still the flashing continued etc
On taking it into storage with the wife in car behind she noticed that I kept indicating the wrong way?
On checking we discovered although the front indicators worked properly the rear was doing the opposite!
We were hoping to go away next week but the insurance company said 'Too dangerous' to use.
Waiting for the dealer to come back with a response/solution.
Wonder anyone experienced this problem before and is it difficult to fix?

This is definitely a problem for the dealer to resolve.
I'm not 100% sure of the legal situation and others might be able to advise, but I would think that it is not legal for a vehicle dealer to sell a vehicle in that (obviously not roadworthy) state. If it were mine, I would advise that the vehicle they supplied is not road legal, and that "time is of the essence" in getting it repaired, because a trip away in it is already booked.

But if that's correct - which seems likely - how the hell did it pass PDI like that?

That's certainly a question I would be asking.....

Re: Rear Indicators
I imagine the PDI check goes much like the quick pre MoT check I carry out with my wife, she stands in front while I operate all the lights and indicators, getting a thumbs up. She then moves behind the van and we repeat the check.
Opposite flasher operation would be missed.

You could always pretend you are a BMW or Taxi and not use them

Oi! Leave taxi drivers alone. As for BMW's I find Audi drivers much worse these days.rgermain wrote:You could always pretend you are a BMW or Taxi and not use them

In my experience, Mercedes Benz taxi drivers are the worst for ignoring all of the Highway Code when it suits them - or at least that's how it is around here...

Rear Indicators
Alan Curry from AS came to our storage unit yesterday and fixed the faulty rear indicators in 10 minutes.
Wiring underneath rear - very pleased with the response & service.
Hope don't experience the 'other problems with the electrics' that some have experienced with their new Burton's.
