Fridge question Empty Fridge question

Post by Tigerbadge Sun Jul 21, 2019 7:42 pm

Looking at my domestic fridge for powering on 12v, when I select battery no light comes on by switch.
Reading the manual it says the fridge won’t work until the engine is running & the van moving.
Is this correct or should the light come on anyway when I select battery?.
Also when selecting gas I hear it trying to ignite but light stays orange not yellow, van is parked on a slope at home.
Thanks

Hi, the light only comes on when the engine is running as the fridge is operated by a relay that is energised by the alternator. On our Nuevo there are 2 relays under the driver's seat which operate the fridge and habitation battery split charging. Hope this has helped, don't know about the gas though.

This was a topic recently raised elseware on the forum. In a nut shell if your van is fitted with the MES control system then the 12v light will only come on when the engine is running AND the van is moving. I understand that if a Sergaent (or other) control system is fitted the light should come on with just the van engine running.
