Dreaded water leak! Help!! Empty Dreaded water leak! Help!!

Post by DerekG Sun Apr 22, 2012 12:23 pm

Hello,
I've just joined after searching the web for information about how to cope with a dreaded water leak - and this seemed to be just the place to ask.
Naturally, it goes without saying, that the leak is in an inaccessible place. That is, under the wardrobe. Noticed the leak only after filling the water tank for the first time this year and running the pump and taps to check att was well, which it wasn't since the floor was flooded very quickly. Nasty.
I would be very grateful to anyone who can help me by explaining how I can get at the culprit, either from inside the van or maybe from underneath.
We're supposed to be off on our first Retired Caravanners' Association rally on Wednesday so there's a bit of pressure to get this fixed.
Contacted some service centres and awaiting their response but the clock is ticking!!
All advice and guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Derek.

Welcome to the forum from Nottinghamshire.

You don't say if you have just got the van or have had it for a while. If just aquired take it back to the dealer. Its his problem.

If you have had the van sometime, looks like the winter frost has done your water pump.

Cheers. Whisky. champagne

Thanks to you all for your messages of encouragement.
Just had a call from a motorhome service firm in Devon to say they can't help us - booked up solid until the third week in May!
Dread to think what I will hear from all the other service firms I contacted over the last few days.
Looks like motorhome owners should never hope for anything tob e done in a hurry.

Dreaded water leak! Help!! Empty Re-Dreaded water leak help

Hi Graham
Welcome to the forum, Sorry to read about your water leak in your van, no doubt one of the techie members will be able to help locating your leak.
In the mean time it looks like you have dry up and take bottled water with you.
Its always a good idea, if you can to put your van in for a hab check earlier in the year to avoid the bottle neck with repair shops.
Good luck and hope you get away on your Rallie.
Boaby up!

hello Derek and welcome to the forum. handshake

A few years back I has a leak with my caravan, turned out to be from delivery hose comming from the carver water heater. Like you it only showed up when I tested the system under pressure and very quickly soaked the carpets. I had to remove the insulation from around the water heater to get at the leaking joint.

Hope you solve you leak soon.

Welcome to the Forum from a wet Newcastle,I dont know if set up the same as my Topaz but under my Wardrobe the Waterpump is situated along with the Battery Charger.Ensure you take out all thee screws holding the bottom shelf cos they have them hidden all over! This will expose the pump,it may be something simple like a pipe blown off. Hi Derek .... had a similar situation two years ago after the severe winter. The diaphram part of the pump had cracked and water was forced out under pressure. Go into your pump's website and you will see the spares list. It is a fairly easy replacement but as someone else said, ensure you get the wardrobe floor out correctly to reveal the pump. From memory, the offending part was a bolt on piece on the top of the main pump body; all you had to do was disconnect the pipes, change the top half and re-assemble.

good luck Bob
