Bit of a crisis
Our 1999 Symphony has developed a problem while in Spain. It keeps jumping out of reverse gear. If we reverse very slowly it is ok but any weight or incline it jumps out. We are in Andalusia and will be looked at by a local garage on Monday. They have said getting a part for such an old vehicle may be very difficult. Does anyone know of any places nearby that might have parts?

I know it sounds a bit crude, but can you not physically hold it in reverse while reversing? If it's just an issue with the linkage then that may work as a temporary "fix" until you can get it back to the UK, where you won't have language and time-pressure issues to deal with?

Not a bit crude Roopert and is in fact exactly what we have been doing for the last 700 milles! However we are travelling through Europe for the next six months and so can't really wait until we get back to UK.

It is indeed a bit of a dilemma, because you can't meaningfully ask about parts availability until you know what parts you need!
