Smallest toilet out there?
Hi all
We’ve just got a 2001 Trident and in the manual it refers to the Thetford 335 fitting in in the cupboard beside the fridge. The van didn’t come with a toilet so we bought a 335 but it’s just too long to fit in. There’s a topic on here from 2013 that refers to this problem and suggests angling the toilet but no matter what we do, we can’t close the door of the cupboard.
Is there a smaller toilet anyone would recommend? We have a depth of 34cm (the 335 is 38.2)
Michael

Can you clarify how they are measured and is it the height, width or depth that is the problem?

Sorry, it’s the depth/front-to-back that’s the issue. I’ve checked the back of the cupboard and there’s nothing there other than the sloping fabric-covered panel that is tight to the structure. Maybe the 335 dimensions have changed since 2001?

The 335 has a width of 342mm. Could you turn it sideways? I don't know dimensions of your cupboard so that may be a daft question.

Sadly no Paul, there’s a couple of centimetres clear above and to the sides but the depth is the longest dimension. If we can find a smaller loo we’ll get that but it’s starting to look like the 335 is going in the back and we’ll use this cupboard for other stuff
Thanks all for replying

Would it look out of place if by a bit of carpentry, you initially removed the door to fit a wooden frame to increase the depth of the cupboard sufficient to accommodate the toilet, thereafter fit the door to the frame?

We had a 1993 Trident. I removed the panel at the back, which gave us enough room.Savbo wrote:Sorry, it’s the depth/front-to-back that’s the issue. Hmmm - undid 2 screws but the panel isn’t shifting and I don’t want to force it, but thanks for suggestion!DavidT wrote:We had a 1993 Trident. So - does anyone know of a toilet smaller than the 335?

Re: Smallest toilet out there?
I googled 'camping toilet' yesterday and got various makes such as Thetford, Royal (apparently also Thetford), Kampa , Fiamma Bi-Pot, plus several obscure makes. None had a smaller depth dimension.

Thanks for doing that Paul!
Maybe we stow the 335 in the back and use the cupboard for something else ... we can always slide it in there overnight when it didn’t matter the door won’t lock, so it’s handy :)

I had a Trafic van with a toilet cupboard. The only toilet that fitted was a Porta Potti made for small boats. I can’t remember the number but have 165 in mind. I think Towsure do them so should be on their web site.
Nora
P.S. Just looked. Seems to be the Qube 165.
