Fiamma floor socket in Warwick Duo
Hello,
Could anyone please tell me if they have ever mounted a floor socket for a Fiamma single pedestal table in the floor of a Warwick Duo. Has anyone posted a method of doing so on here. I don't want to cut the floor and find insufficient depth or cables/pipes etc. blocking the sockets insertion. Many thanks for any info as we find the overhead stowage of the collapsable table a non-starter as it's heavy and awkward to keep getting in and out,
Many Thanks, Smithy.

Do you mean to sit on the toilet when eating? or have I got it wrong. I think the post was to add a socket, not storage, I could be wrong.

Re: Fiamma floor socket in Warwick Duo
Hi Smithy
Yes, we did that a couple of years ago on our 2014 model Warwick Duo.
Like you, we found putting the table away very awkward and the final straw was when the folding leg snapped open and nearly took off the top of my husband’s finger.
We got the pedestal, floor and table mounts from Autosleeper and used the existing table top. We demount it when travelling. The pedestal gets pushed between the seat & back cushion and the top gets wrapped in a duvet and pushed under the wardrobe.
So it can be done. If you let me know what kind of detail you need to know, I’ll ask my husband and get back to you with the techy stuff tomorrow (and photos if I can figure out how to post them).

Keen to hear how that was done. The table is a pain and we abandoned using it promptly. The silly table in the back door is straight out of the ministry of crap design. A bit like a 1970s British car.

Re: Fiamma floor socket in Warwick Duo
We use the silly back door table as a drinks table while watching TV. We had to add spacers to the 'leg' locator to make the table level. Why do all the ones I've seen slope downwards? Have thought of getting a clip on table to attach to the back door bar so we can leave the big table at home.

Yes, the little table performs a good function but you have to agree the design is rubbish. The big table is useless. All the stuff in the overcab storage has to come out to get it in and out. We are both a bit short and can’t see into the storage anyway. There is no way my wife could hoist the table into it stowing position. I can but don’t want too hence it stays there adding weight.
I like the idea of the floor socket and stowing the table top elsewhere so keen to see what others have done.

Hello and thanks to everyone for the advice. If you have an exact position for the floor socket I'd be most grateful. The overhead locker we find more useful for storing bedding. The supplied table rattles constantly up there and is a chore to use. Thanks for all the help,
Smithy.

Can't help with the Fiamma problem, but we store the folding table in the toilet room. Just stand the table edge on a small lipped edge opposite the door and secure to the wall with a couple of turnbuckles. This has worked OK for the past five years and frees up space for bedding in the overcab storage area.

Re: Fiamma floor socket in Warwick Duo
Can't help with the location in a duo, perhaps a call to Autosleeper would help. I did do this job in a Timberland. It was an easy DIY task. But remember the old axiom about measuring twice and cutting/drilling once.
A useful tip, and the principal reason for my offering......mount the under-table socket slightly off centre along its length. A 4inch displacement gives you an 8inch change of position of the table. OR, a similar displacement (maybe less than 4inch) across the table if you need to walk past the table when not in use.

We have the socket in our floor so can measure if you like. I found the supplied table to far too small for two plates so we use the large table when necessary. Plus I fitted a table under the wardrobe floor that pulls out [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Agreed, the table is a pain.Had our Sussex 7 years, never used it, stored in the garage, somewhere. Weight of the table I reckon equals 4 or 5 boxes of wine, nuff said !
As for the sloping table, yes always slopes down, but packed the support bracket with a small bit of ply, job done, no more sliding wine glasses!

Re: Fiamma floor socket in Warwick Duo
The measurements on our 2014 model Warwick Duo are:
From outer edge of aluminium strip on edge of floor board by back door to the centre of the pedestal holder is 675mm
From centre of pedestal hole to the sofa bases is 295mm, each side.
My husband drilled a very small hole, at the centre measurement, through the floorboard and the metal base of van, using approx 2mm drillbit, then pushed a piece of wire (coat hanger) through. From underneath you can see if there will be sufficient space for the larger hole to be cut to accommodate the base cup. Measurement and clearance was fine for us, so he cut the hole and screwed the base down. The cut in the underside of the van can be sealed with sealant putty or similar.
We used the table top from the original, the new fitting was centred.
We did this about 3 years ago and its had a lot of use since then.
Hope this helps. I will try and post some photos now.

Many thanks to Gill for the measurements and you all for replying. Not sure if I want to cut metal floor of van . I will investigate some more I think,
Thanks again, Smithy.

Re: Fiamma floor socket in Warwick Duo
That's great Gill. Could you clarify if your husband drilled right through both ply and metal floors of the van please? I thought the socket would not be deep enough to need so much depth,
Thanks, Paul.
Thanks, Paul.

Hello Jenny and Peter ,
Could you tell me if you installed the socket and if so how far it extends below the floor's surface if possible and if it is made by Fiamma,
Many Thanks, Paul.

Hello Paul
Yes, he drilled thru both the floorboard and metal floor of the van. We sourced the pedestal & floor/table fixings from Autosleeper, but I'm not sure if they are Fiamma parts or some other brand.
The internal depth of the 'cup' that the pedestal fits into is 40mm.

Re: Fiamma floor socket in Warwick Duo
Many thanks Gill. I've just found a surface mount Sequoia table leg which I think will suit. As long as I can free up the overhead cab space I'll be pleased. Thanks very much for your help. We may well store the top in a holder under the wardrobe as Jenny and Peter had a good idea there,
Thanks again, Smithy.
