Just to say hello - Topaz owners
Hi All
Thanks to Burlingtonboaby I'm now a member of this forum, I had taken my granddaughter down to Sewerby Park for the afternoon when B gave me a calling card. We didn't have time for a chat as he was in a hurry to get his dirty hound back home but I am sure our paths will cross again.
Don't expect to see me on the forum very much, dropping into forums isn't really my thing, but if I do log in and can answer any questions I will do my best to give what help I can.
I'm driving a 2002 AS Topaz that I have had from new, I use it as my everyday drive and have been very satisfied with it, it is the best compromise I could find that was small enough to fit into most carparks but still had most of the facilities I had been used to with caravans.

Hello Zapot
We have looked at Topaz's (Topazes ?, Topi ?) on a couple of occasions and they are a lovely van.
Enjoy your trips.

Hi Boaby
We also have the annual passes, excellent value for money. Usually we are ingognito in the wifes VW Golf, however the G/daughter likes to travel in style and prefers to go in the Topaz.
Thanks to everybody for the welcome.

Newbie having diffificuly
HI, I am a Topaz 2002 owner. I have had the camper for 6 years and love it. Unfortunately my husband has once again backed into an unforgiving surface! I have joined up in the hope of getting information about replacement stripes for the side and rear door. However, I am not sure how to operate this site. I was asked to introduce myself but couldn't see a way of doing it so have posted a reply on this thread.

The introduction section you couldn't find is here..
https://www.autosleeper-ownersforum.com/f36-asof-welcome-section-new-members-please-introduce-yourself-here
then you will be better off asking your 'stripes' question in this section..
https://www.autosleeper-ownersforum.com/f2-auto-sleeper-van-conversions-forum
or use the 'search' facility for 'stripes' for numerous threads on the subject.

Re: Just to say hello - Topaz owners
'Hello and Welcome' from another Topaz owner up here in Stranraer, well anyway it is to be over the weekend!!
We have had an asssortment of A/S models and the VW T5 base is the nicest to drive,
though for us the Smiley Face Ford Duetto had the best living layout.
Wonder what is in the pipeline from A/S in the near future on the Merc. van base?
frederic

Re: Just to say hello - Topaz owners
Hi from another Topaz owner, and another Ann. We are off down the M6 and M5 tomorrow as our daughter lives in a Bristol, well Marsh Common actually. Will be in the van on her drive for the weekend, give us a wave if you see us on the road.

Re: Just to say hello - Topaz owners
If you can find a way of avoiding M5 & M6 tomorrow then do so. Good Friday is always the busiest day of the year on the roads. From BBC news...
Earlier Trafficmaster predicted the worst holiday hotspots were likely to be:
Earlier Trafficmaster predicted the worst holiday hotspots were likely to be:
- A303 westbound from M3/J8 through Hampshire, Wiltshire and Somerset
- M1 from Junction 6A (M25 interchange) to Junction 13; and from Junction 23A to Junction 32 (M18)
- M5 from Junction 15 (Almondsbury) towards Junction 31 (Exeter for West Country)
- M6 through West Midlands (from Junction 4A) and northwards towards Lancashire (Junction 21A)
- M25 all sections, especially both ways around J14/17 (Heathrow Airport and M4, M40 interchanges

Re: Just to say hello - Topaz owners
Yes Paul, the M5/6 route is always a pain in the proverbial but unless we wanted to take 5+ hours on the journey it's the only way for us. Have been know to come off at Wolverhampton on the way home and run parallel to it but sometimes it's a case of putting up with it. We do the journey six or seven times a year and the best ones we have had are coming home on New Year's Day, sweet as a nut.
Luckily we leave the M5 before the climb up to Gordano and if it's busy before we leave at Gloucester and use the, very good A road.

We use the A38 to avoid the M5. I'm unlucky tomorrow to have to drive from Luton Airport to Wrexham.
