Brake light switch Empty Brake light switch

Post by Oldfella Sun Dec 16, 2018 3:10 pm

Hi, I have a 2000 x reg Peugeot Boxer Autosleeper Symbol 1.9 TD, the brake lights are stopping on, is there much of a job removing the switch and cleaning the contacts or is it easier to replace the switch, many thanks.

Removing the switch shouldn't present too much of a problem, but I'm pretty sure they ain't meant to come apart. A blast of switch cleaner might sort it [or might not].
I would bridge it out first to make sure that it is the switch which is at fault.
New ones are around a tenner.

Hi Frank, Thanks for the reply, I do not know what you mean by bridging, I am sure its the switch as if the brake pedal is tapped a few times the lights go out.

I meant to remove the connector and put a piece of wire or something [paper clip] from one to the other so taking the switch out of the circuit.

Fairy Nuff! sounds like it is the switch. I can't remember offhand if it is adjustable or not, if it is, it might need adjusting?
