Temperature gauges on Kingham control panel
Hi. Sitting on site in Cotswolds. Frost on ground outside. According to temperature readings on control panel it’s currently 14.1 degrees outside ( and 34 inside). Until today readings have seemed quite accurate. Has anyone else experienced similar?

Re: Temperature gauges on Kingham control panel
We had a low reading outside temperature gauge in our 2014 Duo (it does not have an interior display). To resolve the matter the whole door mirror was changed under warranty.
Interesting that your gauge reads high and ours read low (is your display set to Fahrenheit by any chance?)

Was your problem the temperature indicated on the Peugeot instrument panel or that on the Sargent control panel?

On the Peugeot panel.
I have just re-read the OP and seen that it is probably not the instrument panel that is being mentioned (must pay more attention in future)

It’s the Sargent control panel. At present, 9pm Friday it’s reading 31.5 in, 12.7 out. Centigrade.. hard frost outside

Sounds like the temperature sensor is faulty. On a 2018 van, I would just raise it with your dealer as a warranty issue.

It is possible the location of the sensor is picking up heat loss from the van. On my Kingham the sensor location creates a false reading. It is generally accurate when the heating is not used. Tends to read high when heating the van interior.

It would be interesting to know where Sargent place the temperature sensor - my guess is that it is probably fixed to the back of the casing of the power supply - but I don't know.
Wherever it is, it seems reasonable on a 2018 van to raise it as a warranty issue. It may be that there is a joint in the heating system ducting that is leaking hot air in the vicinity of the power supply (or sensor).

Not relevant to a panel van but on our Nuevo the internal Sensor is by the habitation door on the side of the fridge/microwave cabinet. I think the outside temperature is taken from the Peugeot sensor in the mirror.

I guess it's possible, but generally I believe A/S would want to avoid intercepting the Peugeot electrical system at any point other than an "authorised" interface, which I doubt that would be. IIRC they got themselves into a bit of a mess a few years back with the Mercedes door locking system when MB changed the design and (apparently) didn't tell them!
I don't think it's possible that they could be using the vehicle CAN system, because it would be much too power-hungry to keep it operating with the ignition off (on all vehicles I've worked on, the CAN system does a staged shutdown and turns off completely after a matter of minutes).

Re: Temperature gauges on Kingham control panel
Is this just another case of rebooting the control panel by unplugging it waiting 10 seconds and reconnecting? That seems to be standard procedure for incorrect voltage readings.

Peter - does the remote sensor connect to the control panel, rather than the main EC325 box?
The thing that puzzles me is that I've looked at the documentation for the EC328 (which I was led to believe is connector-compatible with the EC325) and none of the connector assignments correspond to an external temp sensor!

Yes it does
I should add that there is also a temperature sensor in the battery box that is wired to the PSU.

Re: Temperature gauges on Kingham control panel
Thanks - when it warms up a bit I'll go and see if I can find out where the sensor is on mine (though it won't matter much for the purposes of this forum, as it's the Celex that has the EC328, not the Trooper).

I always use one of these, faultless readout and simple to use.

Re: Temperature gauges on Kingham control panel
I must remember to look when the weather is better. It is quite likely that the black button is only for the heater and also that the external temp sensor is under the van and NOT the same one as the dashboard indicator. I have the ec328Peter Brown wrote:-mojo- wrote:Peter - does the remote sensor connect to the control panel, rather than the main EC325 box?

Re: Temperature gauges on Kingham control panel
Just a quick update. Van has been parked at home since Saturday. Indicated external temperature on control panel 8.3(Sunday), 11.5 (today midday), 9.7 (today mid pm). About mirrors actual temperatures. Internal at same times, 36.7, 42.3, 40.9. No heating in van so tad optimistic. Fortunately rest of panel working normally
