1995 Harmony
Hi, How do i remove the leisure battery from under the drivers seat in my 1995 Boxer 'Harmony'. It seems to be completely enclosed apart from a small hole at the front of the seat.
Desperately yours, Jim.

Re: 1995 Harmony
If you move the seat forward can you see a black lid over the battery?
If so, see if it slides out towards the back of the van. to expose the battery, mine lifts off to enable me to access the battery. yours maybe a different set up to mine though. perhaps someone with the same van will be able to help you.
Best regards,
Margaret

Obviously different to my '95 Symphony but I cannot understand why?
I can remove my battery simply by sliding the driver's seat as far forward as it will go, unfastening the cables and restraining bracket then lifting it straight up.
Sounds like you must have something covering your battery?

Jim - can you take a picture of the offending item? With the seat pushed all the way forward
Also - the disconnection sequence - negative (black) first. Reconnection - positive (red) first

Mine's a 1999 conversion and you have to remove the seat to gain access.
Watch out though, it's b****y heavy and I did my back in the first time. Get another pair of hands!

Re: 1995 Harmony
With my 95 Harmony, I also remove the driver's seat to gain access to the battery. To do this it's quite straightforward: the seat base it held in position on top of the plinth by four countersunk socket head screws which can be accessed by sliding the seat forwards and backwards. But, as PB says, the seat is quite heavy and awkward.
I think smaller leisure batteries can be accessed through the aperture at the front of the plinth, but it's fiddle. Also with my van the battery fixing means provided by AS wasn't the best so I modified it, but this now necessitates access from above. Latterly I've fitted higher capacity batteries which are physically wider and occupy the full width of the plinth: these must be accessed from above.

My 1999 model was also the same as PB's where I had to remove the entire drivers seat in order to gain sufficient access to change the battery :(
