Re: Auto-Sleeper Dealers
The only comment I can make is that friends who were to retire last November wanted to buy a motorhome and went to look at Motorplus Derby last May, saw one they liked but as they wanted to use pension lump sum to buy it weren't in a position to purchase in the May. In conversation with salesman this was mentioned and they agreed to keep the van with only a minor deposit of £100 until the November. November came, friends did the deal and took delivery. I don't think many dealers would keep a van for 6 months on such a small deposit when they could have sold it several times over (it was a very nice Lunar).

Re: Auto-Sleeper Dealers
I hope your van turns out to be everything you want it to be. The Warwick Duo is our top choice if we ever can afford one, if only it was 6"s shorter to fit on the drive. Found one at the Newark show last weekend, Carol dragged me into it just to confirm it was still top choice. If only we could move the bungalow back!

Morning Geoff.
Have you looked at Peak Leisure in Kirk Langley, on the Ashbourne Road? They have a stock of new and s/h. And Steve will try and find a 'van for you.The only connection I have with them is they found us a Symbol last year and so far their service has been first class.

Re: Auto-Sleeper Dealers
As noted elswhere on this forum I am considering exchanging my Knaus Motorhome fir a Autosleepers model.
I am wondering what positive or negative comments the members have about Nick Whale the Autosleepers dealership in Evesham
Trade in values and more important any after sales warranty issues.

I could be wrong but I think Nick Whale is a fairly new addition to the AS dealer network.

Re: Auto-Sleeper Dealers
If you are buying a new Autosleeper, I would suggest you look at the Derby showroom as well as the others. If you are looking for second hand models then buying and selling private is the way to go if you can be bothered.Eltel wrote:As noted elsewhere on this forum, I am considering exchanging my Knaus Motorhome for an Autosleepers model.

Re: Auto-Sleeper Dealers
I'm not aware of him, and I live close by.
Cotswold Motorhomes are not far away, and they have an excellent reputation for superb after sales support. They are not the cheapest - but if they were, it's obvious that the customer support couldn't be as good.
If you haggle the salesman down to the last penny there will be little or no money available in the kitty for after sales support - as at least one of my friends found to his cost when M*****s gave him an unbelievable trade in valuation. A wonderful deal at first, but as soon as he wanted after sales support they started backing away, and he had a real struggle to get anything fixed. He never did get his fridge working properly, whereas Frank at Cotswold would have got him a new one as soon as it became obvious that he had a dud.
(Nearly as daft as someone in Cornwall buying at a show from a dealer in Scapa Flow, just because he was a few quid cheaper than anyone else!! It has happened, and quite often too! )

Re: Auto-Sleeper Dealers
We bought new from Motorplus last May, the van had a few minor niggles I fixed them myself, it was easier than having the hassle of going back and forth. We currently are in the process of a warrenty claim shock has had to go through the motions, the problem wasn't stopping us using the van so I haven't really been chasing, however it's booked in for repair now so hopefully this will all go well. I would rather deal with and feel more comfortable with Motorplus than a larger organisation but that's my personal view not based on any kind of experience.

Re: Auto-Sleeper Dealers
We bought a FIAT Kingham. We thought long and hard, looked a dozens of new van converts from all makers, easily discounted 99% as unsuitable for all sorts of reasons [including loads with side doors on the wrong side] then bought a new one from Derby. We then started to spend money to put it right for us [both FIAT and AS] with lots of extras and modifications and, at the same time, removing all the unwanted fittings and putting them up into the loft. We too have issues with AS but I might as well fix the bits properly myself, after all I'ts what I've always done in the past.- asToffee wrote:We bought new from Motorplus last May, the van had a few minor niggles I fixed them myself, it was easier than having the hassle of going back and forth.

As you are in North Staffs, I can recommend Spinneys. Don't just look for the best price or the best part-ex but 'the cost to change'. As for after-sales, Spinney have a good reputation.

Hi Paulmold
Wise points that you have made and I'm in complete agreement.
I hope to put pen to paper with a Purchase from the Autosleeper dealers in Derby who have the model I wish to purchase.
I will post the details when the ink is dry!
I intend to join the Autosleepers Owners Club in due course.

I'd second that if you are buying a new AS but watch out for some over-priced, rough, second hand vans at Spinney.Paulmold wrote:Eltel

Re: Auto-Sleeper Dealers
Can't say I've seen any rough vans at Spinney for years now. Over-priced sometimes but that why I made the comment about 'cost to change', they've quoted me £1500 more part-ex than another dealer against a motorhome £1500 more, so it balances out. If you have no part-ex you will always get £1500 off possibly more (or extras fitted instead).

Re: Auto-Sleeper Dealers
Hi Geoff And Sandi
I’ve had two motorhomes from Motorplus, a Broadway and a Warwick Duo, both have had problems, but I have found that Motorplus after sales is very very good. All the issues were sorted.
The latest problem I had was a leaking window on the sliding door of the Warwick. This proved to be a damaged rubber seal.
Autosleepers said it was a Peugeot problem, Peugeot said no it was an Autosleeper fault as they did not supply the base van with tinted windows.
This argument went back and forth for some time until I asked Mark at Motorplus to help.
He spoke with the Peugeot garage and straight away Peugeot had me booked in for a complete replacement window.
So yes Geoff and Sandi I would recommend the dealership
Regards John

AS dealer
Hi all,,
I bought a Kemerton XL just before Christmas from Moran in Ludlow.
They were very good to deal with and the Handover was very good explaining all things, I stayed in there yard for the first night and all went well, the only small problem was a small water leak on one of the water pump fittings.
This was fixed very quickly the staff all did seem to know what they were doing this makes a pleasant change in life.
They also changed over my satellite system over as part of the deal so I can only rate them as first class.
Now I travelled down from Scotland to buy this van as it was quite a bit cheaper than what was on sale in the two AS dealers in Scotland with the samePX for the old van.
In Moran the knowledge of the salesman / owners was very good I asked a few questions and they answered promptly.
I think the big difference is Moran only sell Motorhomes were as the dealers in Scotland also sell Caravans when you ask them questions they don't seem to know the answer and when then give answers is not right.
I do realise that if you have problems things wrong it's a long way to go, but I think the savings are worth the travelling.
The only thing that did not go to plan was on the way home I hit a bird about half hour from home so the van has new radiators, grill and bonnet painted, but that could have happened anywhere.
