Hello & Good Evening
Hello,
Three years ago we sold our Hymer thinking that was the end of our camping days, however, I've had a hankering for Gatcombe for a few years but they are always for sale way down south and seem to disappear very quickly.
I happened to be browsing on Gumtree a week ago a came across a Gatcombe for sale about a hundred miles away in the far north, the photos looked good, the seller answered my questions and was very helpful even arranging for me to inspect the underside of the vehicle in a garage whilst it was in for servicing. We struck an amicable deal and picked it up a couple of days later, the seller left a bottle of wine on the passenger seat which we thought was rather a nice gesture, my wife says I had already mentally bought the motorhome before we left home (subject to inspection I had).
Having had the vehicle a few days now I think it's a bit of a peach although it's got a few external blemishes, we think it's worth investing in a partial respray to bring it back to life, particularly since the inside is virtually unused. I've always liked to buy my vehicle privately because I like to see the previous owner and learn a little about the vehicle's history. Whilst I appreciate that this route is not for everyone I am happy to back my own judgement, I don't think I'll be wrong with this one.

Re: Hello & Good Evening
Hello and Good evening to you too,
Surely a Gatcombe wants detailing not a respray being a monocoque , I use to have a Anniversary Clubman same as Gatcombe apart from the woodwork,
There are threads on here on how to bring the monocoque body up like new.
Good luck whichever route you take.
Best wishes,
Margaret
