TF, have a chat with local Peugeot dealer, there should be an easy software fix to make the backlighting turn ON all the time.

White speedo dials. You won't believe how easy it is to fit until after you find that it takes less time than persuading wifey to make you a cup of tea. If you know how to use a No.2 Pozi screwdriver you can do it. I did mine in about 15 mins, start to finish. It is far better than drilling holes and wiring LEDs in.
The only reason I can think that the Italians designed it like that is that they have perpetual sunshine, in which case the black dials are legible. Anywhere north of the Pyrenees needs the white dials.
