Re: Weather
Boaby, we need to do the winter shutdown and, because we use a storage facility, we need to get it done onsite. Given the likelihood of more wet stuff on the way, we're taking the sensible option.........and heading for the Lake District

Re: Weather
Great day in the Lakes today, blue skies (remember them) and a fantastic sunset. We're awaiting a meteor shower tonight (according to the weather person on the TV we don't really watch ). It can only go downhill from here

Freezing windscreens this morning, clear starlight sky, time for the LJ's I think.
Enjoy the lakes, have you got your speedos for a wee dippie.

Re: Weather
No chance of getting me into the water, apart from anything my budgie smugglers look from the back like I'm smuggling a couple of pumpkins
Still dry and cool but the sun is breaking through. When we were leaving home yesterday, the frost valve on the tank kept opening. It's that time of year

Re: Weather
Another fine day in the Lakes today but we move on tomorrow. Serious weather warning being given for heavy rain on Friday over the North of England. We'll be in the Scottish borders so I guess it might be a bit damp

Re: Weather
Hi Boaby , thanks, that would have been good but I had left my phone in the van at York ! We parked up down at the harbour had a walk about but as you know by late afternoon sun had disappeared and it started to get really chilly. Left York this morning in horrible rain , dried up over the A66 and was sunny from M6 to home. Van and car are filthy as the roads round York to A1 had lots of mud on them..Job for tomorrow cleaning then time to tackle the interior door foil peeling . Never a dull moment owning a poorly made van!

Re: Weather
Packing for travels in the van always involves clothes for all occasions wet or dry no what time of year. Packing for our trip down under for a month and a half we are taking a lot less. No wellies or waterproofs or jumpers.
Last time we were there it took less time to dry wet clothes after it rained than finding waterproofs or brollies.
Coming back into Manchester in late December will be a bit of a shock to the system.I hope the heating is working on the train.

Re: Weather
Once again sorry we missed you. We live 5 minutes from town, all your mud will be from the tattie fields Kaspian, our local roads are deep in mud, bumper tattie harvest for Mc Cains in Scarborough, nearly every tractor/ trailer is full of tatties heading for their factory dumping mud for miles.kaspian wrote:Hi Boaby , thanks, that would have been good but I had left my phone in the van at York ! Hope you managed to get some nice seafood from the harbour kiosks, too cold for pookie hats.

Re: Weather
Bit colder right enough, -1c this morning in Moffat
Not complaining because we had three days in the Lakes and not a drop of rain. Feel a bit sorry for the folk wanting to enjoy the Winter Droving festival down there this weekend, might be a bit wet.

After 27 hours of what seemed like none stop rain, it's a clear chilly morning with frost in the air, nice bright sky, stars out.

Re: Weather
Frost first thing this morning in Moffat, warmed up to 4°c by the time we were leaving. It was beautiful and sunny and, if we didn't need to be back home for an appointment, we would have stayed on a bit longer.

Re: Weather
It's been cloudy all day over here Boaby and just crept above 3 degrees. Thankfully the forecast rain has held off, though it's spitting now. 40 miles further west, at Lady Margaret's Park they woke to a covering of snow.

Snow covered around Oswestry this morning and snow falling in Wrexham area early on. Got to feel for the people of Derbyshire and Sheffield/Doncaster after all the rain and floods over there.
