Worcester. Whale water pump issues
For the 2nd time in 5 yrs. our Whale Pump High Flow Sub 12v has ceased to work. The original lasted 2 yrs. when the motor burned out on the pump. This replacement has lasted 3 1/4 yrs. Has anyone else experienced similar problems? We live in NZ and our roads are not the best - even worse the off roads.......

Hi Jean
I've edited your title to give more of a clue to your problem. The "Description" panel doesn't show on the "View posts since last visit" screen that most people use.
It would help if you put the year of your van in your details, and I think the Worcester has a submersible in the fresh water tank, and another for filling from a water container?
Assuming I'm correct, which one is giving the problem? Since you mention what are euphemistically described as roads in parts of NZ (I remember them well ) I presume you're talking about the submersible in the fresh water tank. If this is so, there is a solution that many of us have taken by fitting a Shurflo pump, although I doubt if your rutted roads would cause the Whale to burn out.
If you confirm exactly where the problem is, I or someone will come back with more information.

If it is the one in the tank the other solution is fit an access hatch to the tank and problem over, makes life a doddle if ever you want to change the pump again, clean the tank or clean the gauge.
Ours did burn out once and that is why we had the hatch fitted.

Good thinking Hog.
That would be a lot cheaper and would solve the problem of expensive labour costs for replacing the pump. Anyone with long arms could do it!
Also I don't know whether NZ technicians would be familiar enough with the intricacies of A/S wiring to fit a Shurflo. It baffles our own people quite often!!

A Henderson TCL4 is £33 on line and can easily be fitted by a competent DIY'er, I am sure they must be available or something similar in NZ.
I will try to post a picture of ours again. We have a spare pump on board now so any problems are solved quickly.

Hi Jean
We are in Auckland and have recently had a Shurflo pump fitted to our Beckford. Very successful and now have piece of mind when we are away.
I can provide details of the company that fitted it if you wish, they are in Albany
Regards Geoff

Re: Worcester. Whale water pump issues
We have discovered a wiring problem in the power supply to the pump and managed to fix it. But we are unhappy with the system and would prefer a Shurflo type pump. Could Madmac please advise the company in Albany Auckland who fitterd your Shurflo pump.
Many thanks for all the replies of help to solve our pump issues.

Re: Worcester. Whale water pump issues
Greetings to Jean and tikiti in New Zealand.
Our Whale pump was causing problems a couple of years ago, so we had AS (UK) fit a Shurflo pump for us during a habitation check visit. We have never had an issue since!. Great forum for solving AS problems worldwide.
Pete
P.S. Thanks to advice from Dave (Gromit) at the time.
