Do you mean the indicator lights on the front panel or the flame? It can take a few goes to purge the air from the gas line. I need a bit more information about the symptoms before giving other ideas.

Hi there. Very ignorant about how and where to know about the flame itself I'm afraid. All I do know is on the front of the fridge the three light display area are leisure battery bottom, electric hookup middle and gas flame icon is at the top. It's that top one which shows solid orange for a few seconds then flickers and immediately after starts to flash rapidly. Thank you for helping.

I would make sure you have eliminated Peter's first suggestion before going any further.
He means it when he says "It can take a few goes to purge the air from the gas line." like anything up to five minutes of fiddling!!
It can be quite alarming after a long lay up, as you finally think you have it working, and ten minutes later you look again and the damn thing has gone out.
BTW - please don't ask how the air gets into the pipes, because it obviously can't . . . . but it does!!

So just keep trying it? It did seem to stay on longer last time. We are at Moniaive folk festival so will have some more fiddling time (sorry). Will update over the weekend. I added picture of fridge, 2010 AS Gloucester on Mercedes sprinter. Thanks Keith

I suspect that our fridges are the same except you have rotary controls instead of push button and you don't have the removable freezer compartment.
If you don't get it going, please post the model number that is on a label inside the fridge.

Hi
We had the same problem on our AS Surrey,It was the igniter so you may have a faulty unit or it is dirt and dust in the gas jet over winter
regards Alan

We had the igniter unit replaced in October under guarantee but then had to lay it up over winter. Situation now is that the light stays solid for longer but does still less than a couple of minutes maximum no matter how often we try.

If you want to check further then you need to see what is happening with the flame. If you don't know how to access and observe it then I suggest you get a Dometic engineer to check it.

It's a long shot, but have you taken the top fridge cover off outside the van.
It is just possible that something has made a nest in the exhaust tube. It shouldn't be difficult to check as the tube is loosely fitted in place (if I remember correctly), and for the sake of a couple of minutes . . . .
I doubt if it is that, but stranger things have happened!

Re: Fridge problems on AS Gloucester
Another thought to add to the mix ...... obviously you have the gas turned "on" at the cylinder and the cooker is working But does you van have separate individual stop valves inside the van, one for cooker, one for heating and one for fridge. Could the fridge one be off, especially when you mention just getting it out of storage.
Also.. when you switch the fridge from "off" to "gas", you should, if in quiet surroundings, be able to hear the igniter clicking and then the gas burner ignite - might need an assistant to listen outside the vehicle at the vents behind the fridge .
good luck !

Re: Fridge problems on AS Gloucester
Sorry for delay had to go down south. Took it to Swinton in Glasgow and they fixed it. Seems the valve was blocked. Sorted but cost me an hours labour but I got a better handover and more information than I got from BC Motorhome where we bought it. Swinton are on the CCC Approved Workshop Scheme. Thanks for all the feedback.

Do you know how the valve was unblocked and where it is located?

Just some debris and not rusted as seems to be what can happen. As for location sorry maybe get a schematic of your fridge from Dometic. Sorry could not be more helpful.
