Water pipe length
Hi - I fear this is a silly question, but here goes.
I pick up my van from the dealers in two weeks, so I’m planning a few basic purchases. When it comes to filling the fresh water, I assume it’s a good idea to top up when I get on site (to be honest I can’t really do it before). So.........from your experience, what is a good length hose to have, and what is the best connection.
Any boys making silly jokes will be put on report!
Many thanks
Sally

Re: Water pipe length
Does the van have the Truma fill point , or an open hole fill point.
For Truma you'll need one of these [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
For open fill a food grade hose 15m with hoselock connector one end will do. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
There is likely to be what you need already on the van anyway.

Hi - I’m fairly sure it’s an open fill. I’ll check the van when I do the handover but I’m not sure it has one.PLOUGHLIN wrote:Does the van have the Truma fill point , or an open hole fill point.

Re: Water pipe length
My Sussex is a year older than Sally's and has open hole-in-wall filler. I carry two simple clear filler hoses, one 1 metre and one 5 metre. Both have simple rubber tap connector, the type you can fold back to suit different taps. Often a tap will have a connector to a hoselock connector but I simply unscrew it and replace after filling. If I can't get near a tap then I use a 2 gallon plastic Jerry can with flexible spout. Normally leave home with at least half a tankful of fresh water.

Thanks Paul, that’s a good point about a rubber tap connector. That way it fits anything. I’ll have a look for those.Paulmold wrote:My Sussex is a year older than Sally's and has open hole-in-wall filler. I carry two simple clear filler hoses, one 1 metre and one 5 metre. Re: Water pipe length
Carry a watering can Sally.
(Apparently silly joke coming up . . . but not a joke in fact! )
If we are on site for a few days and don't want to move the van to the water fill point, we take the watering can with us for a shower and a pee each every couple of days, and that keeps the tank topped up - and we don't have to make a special journey with the can. It's a 6 gallon can which is not too heavy for the gaffer to carry, and our fill point on the van is quite low so she can even pour it in.
It works for us, and a lot of others too.

Yep indeedy, I’ll be getting a watering can (or Jerry can a la Paul) for those days where I want to do nothing more than read a good book and drink a good wine.Gromit wrote:Carry a watering can Sally.

We don't drink our tank water, so we don't actually have to be that careful what goes in the tank, not that we allow any old cr8p you understand.
We have one of these, and a multitude of virtually all possible fittings to connect it virtually any known tap.
Cheap, easily stowed, very long...............I could go on!
