Kingham radio shutdown.
Has anyone found a way to stop the radio in a 2016/7 Kingham turning off after 20 minutes when parked up?

A short answer I'm afraid... No :(
Well, not a way that doesn't involve either re-wiring the radio to the Hab battery, or replacing the entire radio.
Such a shame, AS went to the effort of installing speakers in the rear that we can never use.

Not quite 'never' use, just frustratingly 20 minutes at a timeRogerThat wrote:A short answer I'm afraid... No :(

It is a shame, as the sound quality is good while they're on, but it's a royal pain having to keep getting up to switch the radio back on.

Don't know the motor home but can you not leave the key in the ignition on the first position before the ignition comes on?

Modern vans don't have an aux position. One click and ignition is on, next click is starter.

Why do Peugeot limit it to 20 minutes and Fiat chose the 3 hour setting?

Re: Kingham radio shutdown.
Our Peugeot car is less than 20 minutes before it goes into sleep mode (more like 3) and I always thought it was to be eco friendly and save the battery anyway.
However I would have thought a motorhome would be different.

I'd rather suffer the 20 minute cut off than suffer the Comfortmatic. I love proper automatics and on paper my new Kingham was planned to be on the Fiat chassis, until I started test driving them !
I appreciate they have a strong following, but they just weren't for me !

you see - the gearbox learns from the way you drive it. Maybe the van rejected you rather than the other way around?Kingham wrote:I'd rather suffer the 20 minute cut off than suffer the Comfortmatic. Re: Kingham radio shutdown.
The radio on my Warwick Duo used to do the same thing until I got hold of an Ideas sheet from Baz Wellard at the Auto-Sleepers owners club. It gave instructions of how to set the radio to stay on for up to 3 hours. I am sure there is also an ideas sheet available for the later model.

Switching Peugeot Radios to camper mode
by roli on Wed Sep 18, 2013 11:00 pm
This radio has the option of being used in “NORMAL” mode, which will switch the radio off after 20 mins or in “CAMPER” mode, which will allow the user to use the radio for up to three hours.
To swap between the two settings, or to customise the switch off time for the radio, follow the instructions below:
1) Turn radio ‘ON’ using the central ‘power’ button
2) Within 15 seconds, simultaneously press ‘FM AS’ and the preset button ‘2’. Each time this pair of buttons are pressed, the display will alternate between ‘NORMAL POWER MODE’ and ‘CAMPER POWER MODE’. (note these must be pressed together for up to 5 seconds)
3) Ensure that ‘CAMPER POWER MODE’ is displayed, then press ‘MENU’
4) Using the ‘UP and ‘DOWN’ button now changes the display to show various adjustable items. Cycle through the options until ‘RADIO OFF’ and a number of minutes is shown on the display. This will take approx. two presses of the ‘UP’ button or seven presses of the ‘DOWN’ button.
5) With ‘RADIO OFF’ shown on the display press the ‘LEFT’ or ‘RIGHT’ button. Each press of either button will alternate the number of minutes shown between ‘180’ and ‘0’
6) With ‘180’ showing on the display the setting is complete and three hours of radio operation should be possible. Press the ‘POWER’ button to exit the menu and return the display to its usual view.
Please note that in ‘NORMAL POWER MODE’ the same subsequent steps detailed above can be followed, to choose between ’20 mins’ and ‘0 mins’ of radio operation.

The radio in my 2017 Boxer doesn't have the 180 minute option, only zero or 20 minutes.Mel Battersby wrote:Not tried it myself but will this help?

What buttons did you press to get to Camper Mode? Given that a 2017 doesn't have a FM AS button.

Re: Kingham radio shutdown.
No there is not. Don't waste time looking, there is nothing you can do other than get it rewired off the leisure battery. Then there is the danger of forgetting to switch it off and draining the leisure battery which is the reason for the 20 minute cut off with the engine battery.Mel C wrote:Mine is the same as AutoSleepy_Don, does not have theFM As button, is there a fix for the larter head unit?

But as camper mode has been done before, and, done in such an obscure manner, I like to think it's there just waiting for someone to figure it out again.
I try to remain optimistic.

Not sure if that question is for me, although I've been quoted ? Camper mode is the option on older radios to extend switch off to 180 minutes and mine doesn't have that option, only zero or 20 minutes.

It was because I thought you had got yours into camper mode.Kingham wrote:

Don't worry, I'm clear now.
Paul says the later vans have no camper mode, and without camper mode, there will be no 180 minute option, so no point looking for it.

This is a problem for AS to resolve. I find it strange that people will buy a van without an effective sound system and not complain (loudly) to the manufacturer. If you want it ask for it!

Re: Kingham radio shutdown.
A previous owner of my Sussex replaced the radio with an all singing Pioneer that states in the instructions ' this should not be fitted to vehicles without acc circuit on ignition' . consequently it only works with ignition on. I would love to have a 20 minute radio. So instead I have downloaded a few dozen albums onto my tablet , got a Bluetooth speaker and listen through those. For radio I just have a small portable.

While my early comment was made tongue in check, it remains curious that Pug chose the 20 minute option and Fiat chose 180 minutes when the vans are made in the same factory.

And the headunits are identical.
This is just a software issue.
Alas, one that there doesn't seem to be a solution to :(

As you can see, it's definitely possible on this head unit...

Pfffttt.....
Mr x, I am afraid that we do not know of a change of the settings to the radio in your vehicle. I would recommend contacting Peugeot aftercare team on 02476 884831. Kind regards Mark Burdett
