removing rear camera on a symbol ES
Has anyone removed the rear camera on a 2011 Symbol ES? This was fitted by the factory and seems to be in a housing that's stuck to body just above the high level brake light.
It works but the image is a bit foggy. I want to take the housing off and clean the lens and glass in the housing.
Before I get the knife out and hack it off the boy I just wondered if anyone has done it before.

Send me a pic of the camera
Mine is on a Warwick Duo
I have a feeling that the lens unscrews from the outside and can then be dried with a hair drier or similar
On mine there is easy access by removing the trim panel from the inside

Isn’t there a panel to remove inside the van above the rear door top latches?

You have to remove the brake light and then you can get at the retaining nut for the camera.

Re: removing rear camera on a symbol ES
finally got round to trying to remove the camera.
Tried removing rear brake light but I cant get that out as the Camera interferes with the top edge of the brake light. Tried a bit of force but its not going to come out in one piece.
The alternative is to remove the panel where the power/pump control is this seems to be held in by about 6 screws with the nasty little sticky plastic covers on, the ones that you peal off and then they never stick on again....
Before I try this has anyone done it and does it then give you access to the rear of the camera?
Love the van but its not built for easy maintenance ....
Cheers

Non of the AS vans are, as a mobile service engineer, said when fitting the twin rear view cameras, trouble with AS there are too well built.

just to update this I had to take out the real panel to access the camera, see picture below. I am running a new cable in which I will cover in a new thread. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
