Hello Dot, I'm just buying a couple of led lamps to replace the halogens in my downlights.

Re: internal spotlights
I bought 4 of these for less than the price of 1 in the uk and trimmed the pins (thanks for the tip modelman )
You do need to drill/file out the bulb holder to accommodate the larger led but it end result is well worth it.

spotlights
Hi Dot,
Aten lighting are a good bet they will even do specials. I needed bulbs with extra long pins on them and they were able to provide them, these had pins which were too long that I could cut down to fit. the glass lenses in the light unit prevented them from falling out.

Re: internal spotlights
I had some cheap ones which were not much good. Flickering and such. I have just bought new ones from bedazzled.uk.com £5.50 each, 23mm diameter, warm white, approx 1 watt. A direct replacement for a 10 watt halogen. Just take the halogen out and push the LED in- Simples

Re: internal spotlights
Hmmm must be different sized reflector sizes on AS downlighters - I'd to open out the reflector to take the bigger leds

Hi Dandy,
Had a look at the Leds on the ebay site you mentioned. The ones I've used are a bit different, they have about 5 Leds on a flat disc with the electronics underneath and the pins coming out the side. Take 1 watt in power and gives out equivalent of 10 watts light and 23mm diameter. Ordered them one day and received next day

Dandy,
You dont need to touch the reflector. It is just a flat disc with 7 leds on one side and various electronic components on the other I copied it from the bedazzled web site but unfortuneately the picture didn't come through. The pins come out on one side and just plugs in when you take out the halogen. I went for the 23mm size because it fits easily they also do bigger ones

LED Lights
Hi All,
for what it is worth here is a photo of our 2 bedhead spotlights, the main light is a 6 LED warm white bulb with extra long pins ( reflector removed) supplied by Aten lighting. and the smaller one is a strip of 3 cool white LEDs wired through a seperate switch the smaller light is used to give less disturbance to the other half, if either of us decide to read ourselves back to sleep during the night.

Thanks Pete, I think we're taking about different types of lamps here - mine are a central pin downlighter with a swivelling reflector unit and (as far as I can see) take the G4 type like this.........
