Bill has joined the forum!
Hi Everybody,
I have been a naughty boy and actually posted a few bits without doing the hello bit in here.
We are just awaiting our new van - an AS Sussex duo, which we pickup on the 17th Mar and I am getting so excited as you can imagine.
Many years back we had a VW T2 conversion, which was a pretty poor conversion but took us everywhere and we loved it. When we got a bit better off we started to do exotic holidays sans VW and it got sold and forgotten. We have been to India a few times, Thailand, Aus, Africa, South America, US and most of Europe etc and had some brilliant holidays.
Then a couple of years ago we hired a big old RV in the USA. We picked up in LA (from El Monte Rentals) and went up through Death Valley (October) and then through Nevada, skirting under Vegas (I hate that place) along Lake Meade to the Valley of Fire SP and then into Utah and did a whole bunch of canyons in S. Utah. I also bought a Grateful Dead T-Shirt in Moab. We returned to LA going from North to the South of Arizona and then into Calif and came back via Slab City and Salton sea.
It was a brilliant month and we got the campervan bug again.
So the Sussex was purchased as a day van to fit into a garage in our giant American RV......
No No No that is a lie, just a joke. We purchased a van again because it is quite small and can go most anywhere a car can go. I love driving but I didn't much enjoy driving a big fuel hungry US RV, it was 25ft long and 8'6" wide and the width was the problem. At one time I thought fellow road users coming from the opposite direction were waving at me. NO NO NO said my long suffering wife they are shaking their fists at you - GET OVER. Mind you the space was great when parked because it also had a slide-out.
So that is it you have a new member with a terrible sense of humour. The RV joke was one of my better ones.

Bill,
Welcome to the forum, from former long term RV owners ...... you are right about other Drivers reactions to their size ..... Loved watching French drivers eyes popping out on smallish country roads
