Re: Parking tickets....
Does that make it morally or strictly legally right though Roger?rogerblack wrote:I agree it's unfair and annoying Dave but one of the terms & conditions of parking is usually that the ticket is not transferable and this is often printed on the ticket.
Any T&Cs can be printed on a ticket, and the punter has no option but to tacitly accept them if he takes a ticket and wants to park. Plus they are not apparent until the ticket is bought, paid for, and in your hand.
On the other side of the coin, I don't think it's generally known but I can now have subsidised rail travel for myself and my wife . . . simply because since last Thursday I now wear hearing aids. Quite a big reduction, and she can have it too if she travels with me as (wait for it!!) my carer!
That annoys me almost as much, as it's patently unjust and we shall certainly not be claiming it. Being slightly deaf does not make me disabled, nor does it mean I need a carer to help me got on and off a train.
I wonder if this bit of daft legislation means Sian could claim a carer's allowance? I bet someone has tried it on.
Enjoyed that moan - time for another coffee.

I've done this countless times, on ordinary machines that don't ask for your reg No.Gromit wrote:
If I buy a parking ticket for (say) two hours, whether it has my registration number on it or not, why can't I give it to someone else for the second hour if I leave after only one hour?
I have also received and used unexpired tickets from other people.

I didn't even know that Dave and I've had a hearing aid for 18 months. As you say, I won't be claiming it cos we can both get senior Railcards for being over 60 which give the same discount, 1/3rd off.Gromit wrote:

The winner is.....
MARMOTA MONAX (Groundhog) 1 ROBIN OF NOTTINGHAM 0
With help from Falmouth Harbour Commissioners, plus though I say it myself a mighty file of photographs, the ticket, phone log, insistence no further correspondence unless it was date of court hearing they cancelled the "ticket".
One injustice avoided anyway!

Re: Parking tickets....
I know that I'm registered as deaf, as a social welfare officer from the council told me so when he visited with some info on doorbells and telephones.
However, I've no idea how to get an official social services stamp to apply to an online application form.
Also, I don't have a NHS battery book, as I simply go to our local hospital when batteries are required and they just hand a couple of packs over.
We recently travelled by train to Edinburgh and back and by booking in advance it was still cheaper than trying to claim a disabled persons railcard.
Maybe it's some kind of gimmick to make people think the gub'ment are giving us something.
Sorry for continuing the off topic topic.

Re: Parking tickets....
I also just go to local cottage hospital for batteries and no record is made but when I was issued with my hearing aid I was given a book. Did you get your aid from hospital?

Re: Parking tickets....
Assuming the Disabled Persons Railcard works similarly to other railcards, such as our Senior Railcards, then the 1/3rd discount still usually comes off the price off Advance Purchase Tickets.
It may not however apply to certain very low price special deals.

Re: Parking tickets....
I have a theory that either somewhere in a disused Cornish mine, or, perhaps in the tunnels under Dover castle there is secret breeding place for this increasing number of no known use morons.
They are all over the place PC idiots with a worrying lack of either brain cells or any form of common sense, led, as they must be as incapable of any original thought themselves, by a previous generation of PC idiots!
