handbrake extender - Handbrake extender Empty Handbrake extender

Post by plattypus Thu Apr 07, 2011 8:41 pm

This piece of kit my wife and I have found invaluable. We were both having trouble stretching down to reach the handbrake on our Boxer based Symbol.
The Kobran Motorhome Extender just slides on to existing handbrake, screwed on and presto! You have to make sure its not pressed on too far before tightening screws as you may not be able to depress button. but it does work. My wife found the handle cut into her hand, so I used a small length of bike inner tube to make a comfortable grip. Its overpriced at £50 but it works!!

Hi waves. Yes, Have got photo, But not a clue how to download confused3

But if you go into www.outdoorbits.com And in the ad is a video showing how easy it is to fit.
bear in mind that it is specifically made for Boxer/Ducato . But can be adapted to fit other models, read the reviews will help you decide.
But must say we find it brilliant.

Your dead right cruizing Very pricey. But it does work. The Sellers obviously know the psyche of campervanners. We'll pay anything for our beloved Vans campervan

I bought one and fitted it but gave up on it after a couple of trips. It is in the garage somewhere gathering dust.If I can find it any reasonable offer acceptable.Once I got used to the position of the handbrake I found the device superfluous.

Ive had one of these fitted for about a year now. I couldnt do with out it. It cost £50 best £50 quid spent. I was reluctant to spend that sort of money at first. So I made my own first . I used a piece of plastic water pipe . I made the grip from plywood and 2 jubilee clips. It worked fine for a couple of months. But I was impressed with its action so I invested in the real thing.

Hi autosnooze. Your so right, best money we ever spent on our Symbol. My wife Barbara said today how she couldn't do without it up!

Yes the Kobran is expensive, but it does the job perfectly, we've had ours since 2006 short after buying the MH.
Once fitted ( 5 min job) it doesn't move and you don't think of it as an add-on. We certainly would not like to be
without it now.

I have the very very first Kobran to enter the UK, I had the chance to be the UK importer but passed it on to Outdoor bits - in hindsight maybe not such a good idea! If anybody wants it they can have it for free as long as they buy the Autocruise Starfire attached to it? New Autosleepers Worcester on order for next year.....

Great piece of kit though which means Mrs Groundhog can reach the handbrake! biggrin

Hi Terry
Yes you can, also on our Symbol you can swivel the seat when in the 'on' position too.

Thanks for the info, we're going back to our original 1999 Harmony and I seem to remember having to drop the handbrake to swivel (in gear of course !)
Still, my tennis elbow won't mind the minor inconvenience I'm sure !

Thanks, I've had to do a lot of catching up in the garden, mowing & pruning but I'll be packing in the gardening for the winter soon so that will be a chance for a bit of recovery. Could do with some extenders on my wife's wheelchair !!
