Symbol external aerial socket .
Hi to all,
I saw the recent topic about these sockets for Duetto's & decided to fit one in our van. More campsites nowadays have a tv hook up point next to the 240v hookup & I've been trailing an aerial cable through the passenger side window..
I had a look at the van today & decided to fit the socket in between the water heater vent & the socket for the 240v hookup.
I ran the cable through the void in the floor, drilled a 10mm hole for the cable in the storage space under the nearside rear passenger seat & fished the cable through the void with a length of thin wire.
Bad light stopped play at this point, so tommorow I need to route the cable through the gas locker & wardrobe up to the tv bracket.
I got a combined clipsal tv & 12v plug socket off ebay for a fiver, The external socket was £15. I'll report back tommorow.
Tim.

Tim,
Looking at your pics it appears that you have more than 1 hot air outlet for your space heater. Am I right?
If so did you add an additional outlet or is it a standard fitting? My Symbol ES only had 1 hot air outlet just next to the oven and above the heater air inlet. Perhaps you could give details.
thanks

Thanks for the reminder CC.
I do now remember seeing the original but as that was more than a week ago I had forgotten it. It's probably an age thing.

Job done.
Hi to all,
I ran the cable into another floor void next to the sliding door.
Up through the floor & into the rear of the gas locker.
Into the gas locker now, then ran the cable behind the wardrobe up to the tv bracket.
I cut a hole in the tv bracket panel for the clipsal socket & wired everything up.
All the connections work fine, I took a spur off the original 12v clipsal socket up to the new one.
All that needs to be done now is to seal the external socket with some mastic where it fits to the bodywork of the van. Cheers ebay!

Think it is a worthwhile job Tim, so often you see aerial leads coming in though the window edges which cant do the rubber seals any good and it looks neat too

Interested to read your info about TV hook up dogseal. I've never seen one and indeed didn't know they existed.
My van is fitted with an external socket which I have used with a clamp on aerial. I will be taking more notice from now on.
