Loose covers for bench seats in nuevo
Hi, does anyone know if it’s possible to buy easily removable and washable fitted covers for the bench seats in a nuevo. I have loose covers but hubby wants fitted elasticated ones. Many thanks in advance for any help

Hi,I made my own seat covers from some water proof fabric.
just made a top panel a little bit bigger and sewed a border round with some elastic sewn into bottom edge.
keeps the dogs muddy paws of the seat fabric and can be easily wiped down.

We had a set, in a nubbly plain oatmeal colour, made by Plumbs for our Broadway. They have a full length zip along the back of each cushion so can be removed for washing.
Local rep came to measure up and for us to choose fabric.
We are pleased with them- they look far better than the ghastly AS fabric or throws- and like being able to take them off and wash them.

How much did they cost Quilter?
We've dealt with Plumbs before and been pleased, but not for the van.
(Wish they wouldn't bombard us with offers for ever afterwards though!!!)

Many thanks for the replies. Plumbs is an interesting idea. Any idea how much it would cost?

£350. In retrospect that seems expensive. I'd already been through sets I made from plain fitted sheets and velcro which did the job but looked a bit drab. I'd followed online tutorials about making your own box cushion covers but was not confident about sewing stretchy fabric or putting in long zips with my machine, which tends to gather fabric. I'd phoned large numbers of firms who were happy to recover seat cushions but not make removable loose covers.Gromit wrote:How much did they cost Quilter?

I phoned Plumbs and, though they did not offer this as a regular service, they were willing to give it a whirl and it all went smoothly from there.

Many thanks, it gives me something to think about. Expensive but if they wear well it might be worth the outlay

Re: Loose covers for bench seats in nuevo
It seems to me that there is a niche market waiting to be filled. I did suggest, via our dealer, that motorhomes are supplied with the seating covered in a plain canvas material and a set of stretch covers or loose fitted linen covers of the customers choice. These can easily be changed when a makeover is wanted.
If you want to cover your cab seats as well then I recommend:

We have had 2 sets from them for different vans.

Re: Loose covers for bench seats in nuevo
Thanks Quilter.
Your plain cover suggestion makes sense to me, but it will never work because so many people are too bone idle to bother, and want it all complete and finished on collection . . . . to their individual taste of course!!
Reminds me of the problems Mrs Gromit has had with her art work. Two highly predictable comments are very common at an exhibition:-
"Lovely picture but I don't like the frame."
"Love the frame but I don't think it suits the picture."
So she started offering pictures in just a card mount so people could have them framed to their personal taste . . . . . and then:-
"Lovely picture, but I wanted it framed as it's for a present."
Can't win can you - and self-assembly seat covers would get a very similar reaction!!

Re: Loose covers for bench seats in nuevo
We bought some seat covers for our van from Tesco, they were fitted baby cot covers I think that they were on offer not more than £10.00
They were a perfect fit we had them because we had a dog with us occasionally and not the same as you are after but if anyone wants some for the same sort of reason it's worth considering, easy to put on and off.
