Stanway rear light bulb change
I am the proud new owner of a Stanway Autosleeper. I am generally pleased with it but have a burning question. How an earth do you access the rear light cluster to change a bulb? I have tried contacting the service department but am unable to speak to anyone there and I have send them an email. I just wondered whether anyone has had to deal with this issue.

Re: Stanway rear light bulb change
Its a good question and I'll be interested to hear the answer when you get it. The access is from the inside and it looks as though interior fittings cover that area.
Ask for Mark Burdett at the AS Service Centre 01386 853511

Re: Stanway rear light bulb change
I would expect acess from inside the cupboard (offside) and in the shower are there two access hatches, the white circles?

That is correct but the drivers side? There are no cut outs or hatches.

Where are the fridge vents. Access to lights through those on other PVCs.

I know it hurts but sometimes one just has to read the handbook!

That's spoiling all the fun of ownership.

Thanks Peter but
Peter BrownI too can read a handbook and it doesn't even hurt but, that in itself does not make the access holes in the fabric suddenly appear. There are no access holes and I for one would prefer not to go hacking holes in the fabric where I "think" they should be. I personally would expect that be be the job of the people that carry out the conversions.

I was extremely upset on first reading your post after spending some time trying to help you. Looking again though, I see how you could read that my post was a criticism of you - it wasn't, just intended as light hearted banter that is fairly common on this forum that you have just joined. I apologise if offence was taken but none was meant.
I expect the hole in the trimmed panel will be there but not having access to your van must defer to what you have found.

A photo similar to the one posted by Ploughlin would be most informative, and would either end the discussion or start a new one.

Re: Stanway rear light bulb change
The high level rear cupboard in my van has an access to reach the 3rd brakelight/camera. It has a very neat timber cover plug with insulation fixed, difficult to notice unless you look closely. Perhaps similar in the cupboard of the Stanway?

Photos to illustrate
Under the sink and the 2nd shot in the boiler cupboard. Not obvious to me but the most likely.

Struggling a bit to use this forum, no least the uploading of photos. Hopefully these illustrate my query. A good idea to use the phone camera in these very hard to access places. Thanks to all contributors on this topic so far.

I, too, do not appear to have any access through the fabric on the off-side of 2015 model

Boffin, The thread is from August last year. mjparmy hasn't used the forum since January so likely won't be replying quickly to tell you how he faired.
Just phone Mark at AS as suggested above in 1st reply.

Re: Stanway rear light bulb change
For everyone's info. Mark and Autosleeper were of no help whatsoever. I wrote emails to Mark and two of the directors that were ignored. Mark quoted the manual to me which was of no use. I ended up forking out £17000 to change the vehicle for a Kemerton which does not have the issue with the light access. The rear light access (driver side) on the Stanway IS an issue that Autosleeper chose to ignore. In France they insist that you carry a spare set of bulbs in the vehicle. I am sure that they would be just as insistent that a bulb be changed when it fails. The description in the manual is a joke and the person that wrote the part that describes how you go about accessing this part of the vehicle has obviously never attempted the job him/her self.
Frankly I am disgusted by their response.

Re: Stanway rear light bulb change
I can sympathise having had similar experience of A/s as yourself . Sounds like a bit of poor design there with that van model. Access to vehicle bulbs should be obvious and able to be done without dismantling anything ,quickly at the side of the road ,without tools or a contortionist. Cant disagree with you new model of van though! Hope you have more luck with the Kemerton!

Thanks Kaspian, I was beginning to think I was the one being unreasonable here or maybe there are a lot of contortionists on here that think it's acceptable,. I have just has a couple of weeks away in Scotland and I cannot fault the Kemerton.

Re: Stanway rear light bulb change
Just picked up my 2017 Stanway and had been prepared for no access after reading this forum. The manual sounds as though you have similar arrangements on the drivers side as built into the shower area on the passenger side. No such case. They simply ran the material over the access points under the sink top and in the heater storage area. So nice sharp blade and 17mm flexy head spanner.
So don't be put of getting a Stanway, simple task to sort. now to find how I post photos
