Very neat, Towtal sometimes receive a bad press, but they appear to have done a good job there.

Step - New Cab Step on Warwick Empty Re: New Cab Step on Warwick

Post by Gromit Tue Aug 22, 2017 10:33 pm

Looks good to me too.

I like the fact that there's plenty of room for both feet on the step. For those (me included) who have only one good(ish) shrugg  knee, it's very handy to be able to use the same leg each time you want to go up a step. Without room for both feet this would be almost impossible, and would largely ruin the whole purpose of the step.

Good solution.  allthumbz

Replied in your other post think it was £300-350ish.  They let us stay overnight so they had the van early am and collected it around lunch time.

Step - New Cab Step on Warwick Empty Mudflaps

Post by Sagabike Mon Mar 12, 2018 5:19 pm

Interesting to see you have mud flap on N/S front wheel arch.
Seems to be useful idea, keeping some of the mud, water & debris away from step and mechanism.

Looking at the photos does the step hang lower than the sliding door step,if it does by about how much lower is it?

Mud flaps on front only.  It’s slightly lower than the habitation step. The difference is the same as the difference in height between the 2 doors

I've seen it PaulJeff.

It's a cracking good step, and if my ancient knees get much worse we shall be having a pair.

Step - New Cab Step on Warwick Empty Re: New Cab Step on Warwick

Post by Guest Sun Apr 26, 2020 11:08 am

Roli, resurrecting your thread. I am having problems with the step on our Warwick Duo. It’s a Project 2000 step and the hab door step in your photo looks the same. I note that your step extends much further than ours so I think our step has been coming up short since we got the van.  It’s now coming up much too short.
Do you have any experience of servicing the hab door step on your van?

You are not the 1st. There is a post a couple of years ago.
The original step had this extension issue and the dealer swopped it under warranty but it was still not right. Dealer was to discuss with AS but before they got an answer a member on here gave me the solution
On the control panel go into set up up mode by pressing the up and down arrows
Scroll through the options till you see Step.   there will be a number next to it and I use ours to explain.  It was set at 24 and I increased to 28 or 29 which was acceptable and has been ok since
When I wanted the cab step Omnister suggested asbeing more reliable than the Project step

Thanks.
Our van is bit older and doesn’t have a control panel. I plan to dismantle the step later today to see if there anything amiss inside. If it needs replacing perhaps a better brand would be a good idea. That said, judging by post on the web, the Thule steps have problems too.

Step - New Cab Step on Warwick Empty Re: New Cab Step on Warwick

Post by Guest Sun Apr 26, 2020 4:25 pm

Back from under the van. I had downloaded the installation manual and parts diagrams. When I got under the van and inspected the workings I find my step is from an earlier design. It is not certain that my step would extend the same distance and the newer models. I suspect it may but the only way to adjust it would be to open up the box and move the chain a couple of teeth on the sprockets. That way the trunnion would be further to the outer edge when it stops. I can see a stop motion for the closing action but none for the outward action.
I have raked out as much of the grit as I can without removing the step and dismantling it. To do that would be very difficult though. The upper and lower covers are riveted on and I don’t have the kit.
It’s a rubbish design. Road dirt is invited in and the enclosure is complete with the exception of the front. What dirt gets in is trapped. The chain and sliders are grinding through the grit and accumulated dirt. The greased chain is completely coated in muck. The step now extends 22cm from closed which is an improvement but still too narrow.
I will have to keep a closer watch over it and clean out more frequently.

The step is electric wired through the ignition. There is a switch just inside the door so you can use with the ignition off.
Yes Liz uses all the time as she has difficulty getting in without it.   It is an Thule step. We wernt keen on the step fitted by AS on the hab door and Towtal wern't keen on that make also.
