95 Duetto rattle can colour
I want to do a few bodywork repairs on my Ford Duetto. Does anyone know the closest rattle can colour from Halfords etc??

You will be better going to a motor factor and getting the paint mixed against the van

Hi
The paint code should be on a plate somewhere. Mine is under the bonnet on the driver's side.

Err! The colour and year would be helpful.jakethepeg wrote:I want to do a few bodywork repairs on my Ford Duetto. Does anyone know the closest rattle can colour from Halfords etc??

I agree. The "correct" colour for mine is Ford Ivory from Halfords (paint code 3MP) but it's noticeably darker than the van nowadays. In fact Hammerite Cream is closer which is quite handy.roli wrote:You will be better going to a motor factor and getting the paint mixed against the van

My 1999 Duetto was Ford Ivory, but as brodco says it was darker than the van (not much, but noticeable). Perhaps a rub over the van with a product such as Farecela G3 would help to restore the original paint colour and thus make touch-up paint a better match?

Most motor factors cannot match the existing paint colour, they will make you either an aerosol, or brush pot using the vehicle paint codes. If you want a perfect match, then only a specialist paint supplier, such as Ketts, here in Norwich, can photograph the paint and match the colour, the great advantage of this is that it allows for fading etc over the years.
So, find the paint code, or go to, in my case Wilco, motor factor, and they'll find it, they know where to look! They will test the resultant mix on an unseen part to be sure of no gross errors etc. Usually £8 or so for either can.

Thanks for all your replies. I just want to do a few touch ups, and plan to have a full respray at the end of the season, I have looked through all the paperwork I got with the van, and the colour uis as you say Ford Ivory white mp3, so I will get some of that when Halfords open!!
