Hi, just tried my Thule awning for the first time, I cant see where the central rafter fits at the van end.
Does anyone know please?

Yours should be the same as mine. There is no adjustment to the pole you have to spring it in.  The plastic locator on the the is per video that Paul has steered you to but your pole is round not square 

Had ours up last weekend and needed some small steps to locate (at 5' 7" I am a shorty

Maybe the small locating bracket (white plastic with a cross pattern) has fallen off, as ours did but luckily found on the ground. It is secured to the awning by a self tapping screw which in our case was not screwed in far enough to clamp bracket securely. I'm assuming you have the 3 part round metal pole that is your rafter. You should easily see the fixing point, more so with the lesser height compared to a coach build. Apologies if my assumption is incorrect. Regards
