Satellite issues with Multimo and Icecrypt Empty Satellite issues with Multimo and Icecrypt

When we downsized to our Nuevo, we decided to look for an alternative to our £50 Aldi Satellite kit as it needed a tripod and pole etc and we were struggling for space. After looking at other forums we opted for the Multimo dish as it seemed to get great reviews (even on this forum). I'm afraid my experience is very different. I have now tried this in 3 different locations and have had the system working for a total of 15 minutes (then it froze and we couldn't locate the Astra satellite again.

I'm not sure if this is an issue with the dish or the receiver (an Icecrypt 1600 from Maplins). Both the dish and the receiver are bought new this year.  I  seriously considered chucking both into the nearby loch on Skye, especially seeing others use roof mounted automatic systems and have a connectivity in minutes.

I notice that there have been several other threads here on Satellites over the last few years but I would welcome advice on the existing Multimo/Icecrypt combo or recommendations regarding

Oyster Caro
Avtex/Selfsat Snipe
Maxview Qube 2

all of which I have seen recently.

Hi WLH ,I  had (still have, trying to sell) a multimo dish with a Humax receiver ,worked perfectly but a bit tedious to set up, so I went for a viewcube 2 which does what it says on the can , very easy to set up ,just point the handle north use the control box and then wait tll it locks on to the satellite.Had looked at some type of dome but not much space on the Nuevos roof!   Regards       Paul up!

Paul, I guess your vucube 2 is a portable version. Where do you position it and is it secure from being stolen? Is it on the ground or on your bike rack or inside van? I have been looking at them for the same reason ie no room on roof for a dome satellite, but security is the issue.

Hi Pete, we just place it outside the van either on the ground or on a small folding table connecting the 2 cables to an adapter Ive fitted on the side of the van. An alarm is built into the view cube which sounds if the cables are disconnected while the control box is still on, but it would be easy to attach an alarmed padlock( which are fairly cheap and common) to give greater security, weve actually got a loop from our van alarm but ive not felt the need to attach it as the built in alarm is good! Kind regards      Paul allthumbz

Hi All,
Had a Vu Cube 2 fitted to the roof of our Nuevo ES last year. It sits between the bathroom and kitchen roof lights. Works fine - just looks like a very tall bloke in a crash helmet has stuck his head through the roof.
