Driveaway awnings Empty Driveaway awnings

Post by kook Tue Jan 17, 2012 2:35 pm

Hi. We took the plunge and bought a new Topaz last October. Has anyone got a recommendation for the purchase of a new driveaway awning. We won some vouchers to spend at Riversway to go towards the pur
chase ! The van is fab and cannot wait for the weather to improve.javascript:emoticonp('smile!')

I see you are South Manchester, I know you have Riversway vouchers but for a "good" selection drop into Camperlands, you cant be that far away. The Kyham in the picture on the thread Robbie has supplied came from there, it is possible to link to the van although my picure shows it separate

We used an Apache Rimini simply because many of the poles are interconnected by a spring mechanism. Could get it up and liveable in 15-20 minutes. Only drawback was that it was a bit heavy and need to be packed into separate bags for main canopy, sides, curtains, a couple for poles then pegs. Each bag could then be dispersed into into a nook or cranny according to size and best placement of weight. I'm sure there are now more up to date versions using the same principle but are much lighter these days.

We have a T4 Topaz, and a Fiammia sunblind. We bought An outdoor revolution driveway awning. We got caught out by the size of it, and when combined with our van it's too wide for the camping and caravan club standard pitch. It connects to the van by the small strip in the sunblind.

We will be buying a smaller awning for this year!

Hi there,

Just been to Khyam to check out the previous "Motordome" reference and bumped into the "Kador Convertor"!!

I would sooner stick needles in my eyes than make "Petal" look like the photograph in the advert!! crazie crazie

That Privacy Room is looking better and better! allthumbz allthumbz

Best regards,

The Kador malarky isn't needed - I just elastic strap the Motordome "tunnel" to the Omnistor wind out if it's needed.

Beauty of a driveaway is in the name - keep your pitch and driveaway - no need to dismantle the privacy room if you want to go off driving.

Hope your eyes heal in good time Dutto winks

Driveaway awnings Empty drive-away awnings

My advice on awnings is to try the van first in a number of different settings to determine whether you really need one.
I remember automatically buying an awning for our first Symphony in 1996 having just come from being caravanners and hardly using it because we used the van to get around and were never on a site for more than 3 or 4 days!
Keep it simple!

WOW!!!! wave wave wave

That particular thread was why we bought the tent recommended; and the one that Helen hates so much! allthumbz allthumbz

I'm sure that two reasonably intelligent people can have it down, folded and packed away in five minutes - but it took us half an hour, on two hot sunny days!! By the time we had wrestled it into the bag we were losing the will to live!!

Up twice, down twice and now to be dumped and replaced with ....... ??? We will be back in Skegness at the beginning of March and if anyone wants to come by and give us £35 for it they can have it with pleasure!

Best regards,

We must be those "2 reasonably intelligent" folks Dutto cos it takes us 5 mins. to put ours away.
When you get back Dutto remind me and I'll have off you......thats if it's a Quechua.
