I had the stuck blade towards the end of last season.  I did get to the bottom (sic) of the problem.  When the blade comes across to seal the cassette for transport it actually drops (or is it rises?) slightly to make the seal firm.  What was happening was that the blade was not rising (falling?) again so could not turn.  Slight pressure released it and no problem since.
I did remove the seal and found that there was lots of dried paper and lime scale around the mechanism so sacrificed a toothbrush to do some careful cleaning.
Watching the blade as you open the blade shows clearly whether it rises or falls on opening/closing. Best done with the cassette removed, the slide slid back and just turning the yellow knob.  Dont forget to turn it back or you cannot replace the cassette.
