Step Lighting
Murph is on the mainland (he comes fom the IOM) for a few weeks and popped in this afternoon for a natter. Brian has done loads of mods to their Lancashire, many which we have seen before but his latest deserves special mention.
This could be of use to those of us whose fridge is at the side of the habitation door (ie end kitchen models).
The worktop on the fridge has a small overlap under which Brian has stuck an led strip and fitted a switch so that instead on stooping to turn the step light on, which isnt particularly good reach straight out switch leds on which lights the step and the passage a lot better. I hope I have explained this ok.
If you go out of the van in the dark this is a "must mod", cheap and easy to do and improves safety

I like the sound of that. Thanks Roger.
Hi Murph any chance of a photo or two when you return to the IOM, and material requirements please.
Cheers. Whisky.

Murph is having a connection problem at the moment, so be patient for the photo, but there is little to see as its so neat and compact (imo anyway)

Re: Step Lighting
Hi
Last year I bought a cheap light in Lidl or Wilkies, you know the ones where you just press it and four little bulbs light up, and I put it in the wardrobe. I have never had cause to use it there, so on reading this post, I rushed out to the van, and ripped it off the wardrobe wall, and repositioned it on the side of the Fridge facing the the entrance step, (as advised) and bingo it is just the job. :up! No wiring or drilling of holes.
Now why didn't I think of that when I bought last year

step Lighting
Hi All,
Home for the weekend without the Dez Rez (MH), I always have difficulty with photos anyway, but I used a short length of 12mm !/2 inch quadrant timber with a shallow groove cut in the rounded face using a router fitted to a router table, this accomodates a 12 LED length of sticky back LED lighting I am restricted to this length by the fire blanket at one end and the waste bin mounted on the door at the other. (I bought a 2 1/2 metre length of it from LED Hut on the internet for £15) most firms only seem to sell 5 metre lengths. This is wired to the back of the existing rocking light to provide power. The battery powered light that has been suggested doesn't to my idea shine in the right direction as this was origionally intended to light up the bottom drawer of our modified kitchen cupboard, but has since proved to be as Roli says, an excellent access light.
The origonal reason for buying the LEDs was to provide better illumination in the kitchen with the aid of a 1 metre + length along the bottom of the overhead cupboards, this is wired via the overhead cupboards through the washroom wall running behind the curtain rail to the Washroom light. The reason for using Quadrant to mount the 12 LED length was of course to get it to shine 45 degrees downwards, rather than vertical or horizontal.
I have also fitted a 9 LED length above the drivers and passenger seats each side via a switch to provide a better reading light with the seats reversed and I still have some over.

Hi whiskey,
I have just had another thought on the photo, some time next week when I am back in UK, if Roli is in agreement I will take a photo and get him to put it on for you.

Re; step Lighting.
Hi Brian.
I do like the idea of the lighting for the step and the over sink lights, being a bit of a DIY fan I will be having a go at these mods.
Looking forward to the photos.
Thanks in advance. Whisky.

Re: Step Lighting
I am looking through my camera at the moment and have found the ceiling light conversion where the tubes have been taken out along with the invertor (PCB)(as these LEDs are 12v)
Will (try & !!!!) post the rest when I get home in 2 weeks time

Just a note. The light cover has only been removed for illustration purposes.
