......because we're fed-up with patchy terrestrial reception. It should arrive next week and I'll hopefully be able to fit it in place of the existing aerial using the same roof hole and power supply. The fixing plate is included so it should be 'just' a question of taking off the old Status and fitting the plate, then attaching the Snipe.........

Hello and Welcome, Pauljeff!!
I had the Snipe fitted by Marquis, Ipswich, as the ‘van was new and supplied by them. They removed the old tv aerial as requested and put the Snipe in its place, so no new holes in the roof! In use, the Snipe has been excellent although you need to be circumspect in where you pitch-up as trees can block the satellite reception, so, as it is attached to the van, it’s not as simple as picking up the dish and moving it to a spot with clear ‘line-of-sight’!
It has been a worthwhile addition as Freeview reception STILL seems to be patchy - perhaps we’ve been unlucky in our choice of locations?!?

Our van has a Snipe dish. IIRC it's mounted on a base plate which is stuck to the roof with Sikaflex or similar, with the dish mounted to the plate.

There's one very small hole that carries the two cables, one for the dish motor and one for the LNB.

If there's room above your wardrobe or wherever your TV is mounted, (hopefully in a cupboard somewhere), that's probably the best place to site the dish to avoid visible messy cables.

Funny that Andy mentioned picking your pitch carefully to avoid being blocked by trees etc.
We have a portable Aldi dish that I'm tempted to keep, just in case of that scenario. winks
