Remis blinds
Hi, does anyone use the pleated Remis cab blinds when stored in the sun?
Just wondering if they would deteriorate or if they are ok for long term use.

Re: Remis blinds
We used to close ours but the heat of the sun caused them to come unstuck on one side. Pressed the material back and now only partially close them during the day when camping and all the time when at home. No problems since.

Re: Remis blinds
With my previous vans, I would close the blind almost fully, but would bring the insect mesh down to meet, leaving an inch or two at the top to allow any build up of heat to escape.
I never noticed any deterioration due to sunlight.

I've had this problem with ours too.
The magnetic strip glue softens in the heat of the sun and the strip then falls off the extrusion.
I intend to remove the strip fully some day and glue it back on, after removing all the old glue, with cyanoacrylate or similar adhesive.
Other than that, our cab blinds still appear to be fine after a couple of years of being closed to protect the cab from the sun.

We have a similar problem with high temperatures but simply use an elastic band .

Re: Remis blinds
It was not the centre join that came apart it was the outers. Never had a problem with the centre magnetic catch.

Oh, wow! That's slightly more worrying then, much more fiddly to fix properly.

Re: Remis blinds
They are more convenient than the curtains, but not massively so.
We've had a bit of trouble closing ours on the driver's door. It all looks perfect, but it often catches in the channel however carefully it is closed - and it's not always easy to open it fully.
I'm almost inclined to chuck them in the bin and go back to a curtain? We've had no problems with them coming apart in the hot sun, but there's not much to go wrong with a curtain, and I blush to think of going to bed with the blinds open if/when they give up the ghost completely!

Re: Remis blinds
We found the remis blinds a novelty, having come from curtains in the Clubman. The windscreen blinds - seemingly held closed by magnets - looked smart. But imagine our surprise one night when, suddenly, they sprang open!
The silver screen cover now serves as both an insulator and the fall-back modesty protector!

Modesty?
Just get some multi coloured LED strips under your pelmets, a good selection of Luther Vandross, and some Pampas Grass to put outside.
Nobody will notice if your blinds fly open then, or if they do, they'll turn away sharpish.
