Got my Kingham today
I got my 2014 Kingham today with just 4200 miles from Marquis in Preston.
I've refitted the microwave and added another leisure battery.
Delighted so far. Just need to work out how you can lie on the bed without it falling flat.

Another well known fault with the Kingham, ours has been repaired under guarantee. The hinges are difficult to adjust and the bed is not keen on being altered from inside the van. We lift it up and down from outside. Good luck.melcragg wrote:Delighted so far. Just need to work out how you can lie on the bed without it falling flat.

So do we. It works OK without bedding, but not with sheets on. Pushing from outside is the easy answer.
Good luck with the van.

Re: Got my Kingham today
Congrats on your new Kingham!
Hope you enjoy as much as we do ours.
We have given up using the bed as a sofa it was too much faff. Just use more pillows to sit up in bed or use the lounge to sit in!
We have also fitted a head board to stop damage to the blind behind the bed. Used a piece of white plastic cladding from B&Q which slots in between mattress and doors with turn buckles to hold there when you open the back doors and so we can take it off when loading from the rear.

Re: Got my Kingham today
Thanks for your comments. Yep, I've been adjusting the bed from the back door and I too was concerned about the rear blind getting damaged. I will probably construct a 'headboard'
I was surprised to hear the control panel complaining there was <25% fresh water left after just 2 quick showers. Maybe I didn't fill it properly or it's leaking. Water is pumped but the pump never shuts off so I have to turn it off from the panel.
Still delighted with the van!

Re: Got my Kingham today
If your water pump is running all the time you may have a leak somewhere.
Check the hot water tank drain point is the drain valve properly shut?
We had a slow leak on the fresh water tank drain where the hose connected to the drain tap. Had to take the drain tap off cut back the hose a little to remove the split bit and refit the tap. Easy enough to fix its only fitted with a jubilee clip.
If theres no leak you may have had air in the pipes which would have meant it wasnt really full.
Otherwise maybe faulty water pump?

I agree the bed is hard to push up from the inside but I still manage it. I have never had problems with the bed staying in the daytime position, 3 clicks from from flat is ideal for watching TV. If you have problems with it staying up I would take it back to the dealers under warrany.

If you get at the pump it should have regulator on it that sets the cut-off pressure on the system. Before anything else adjust this down a bit.melcragg wrote:Water is pumped but the pump never shuts off so I have to turn it off from the panel.

Same problem as I had last weekend, pump still running when the taps were closed. Found no leeks so adjusted, anti-clockwise, the regulator and the pump stopped, but the regulator position is not where it is usually set, so will continue to inspect for leaks or [unlikely] if air is trapped somewhere in the water system. Have a great time with the new van.

Hi Mel , the setting is sensitive to battery voltage and can require slight adjustment whether on mains or battery and also dependant on state of charge of the battery so from time to time there might be a need to adjust the regulator.Mel Battersby wrote:Same problem as I had last weekend, pump still running when the taps were closed. Ours was a pain in the backside until we had a Shurflo fitted - but that's another story chronicled elsewhere on here.
Our pump was no trouble at all when on hook-up, so the best remedy for me was to set the pressure switch in that mode and mark the position of the knob.
Then when we were off hook-up and it started playing up I learned how far to turn the knob, and initially made a second mark. This proved to be a mistake because (as you suggest) it was very inconsistent, depending upon battery voltage. In the end I relied on the original mark for use on hook-up, and resigned myself to tweaking the knob fairly frequently when off hook-up.
Turning the pump off at the panel became essential for a good night's sleep, or the swine would kick in just as we were dozing off. (Sod's Law of course - he never sleeps!! )

Thank you Kaspian for pointing out the possible effect of the battery voltage with regards to the regulator..learn something everyday from wise forum members, much appreciated.

Re: Got my Kingham today
As mentioned by other kingham owners water gets into the toilet bowl when having a shower. The lid isn't the best design. Why doesn't it cover the whole seat like the thetford one does. Anyway, the water gets in but it doesn't stay there. It leaks through and ends up under the cassette in the toilet housing. I'm looking for a new seal on ebay etc but can't find one. Do any of you know where I can get one from? Thanks

Re: Got my Kingham today
We love our Kingham too. We did get the bed replaced as it refused to stay up, or got stuck up and refused to go flat. Since the replacement it has worked like a dream.
Never noticed a problem with water leaking through the toilet when showering though?
We have our Tv on a long bracket so can watch in bed or swing it round to watch in the lounge.
We have also had an extra water filler point fitted so can use a hose for speed.
Found a tow bar mounted bike rack that allows the doors to open with bikes still on which is great.
I was most excited though to find a £5 collapsible washing up bowl that fits in the sink with the lid down even when not collapsed :)

Ah, my bowl was from Wilkinsons :)
The bike rack is a Altera Strada DL, but e did have to have to tow bar moved down to the lower bracket first.

It looks like an excellent bike rack especially allowing the rear doors to open with the rack in its lowered position. Do you leave it attached when on site or put it under the bed space in the van?
