A very significant point Ken, and one that should always be remembered when reading about a list of faults - and it doesn't apply only to motorhomes of course. Some folk just like to moan and complain destructively about anything!!

Two other issues occur to me.

1). Some forum members (not often on this forum) will include every tiny niggle when compiling a list of complaints, just to make it look as bad as possible. One I recall even took his van back to the dealer to have one of the sticky screw head covers replaced when it fell off. shrugg

2). As Machloop said earlier, some of the complaints have nothing to do with A/S, but are problems with the base vehicle. They frequently get included however for the same reason as before, and they do tend to colour the attitude of the reader.

None of this excuses the too frequent evidence of shoddy workmanship and lack of care and attention to detail. However, if the fridge goes wrong or the vehicle alarm runs down the battery too fast, it's a bit unfair to savage Messrs Autosleepers for that!

Yes Dave.    However i get concerned when we read that Dealers and AS have let owners down on the action necessary when faults are found.
With a Quality control background i am disappointed that AS has no formal QC accreditation.
Many faults should be found before the vehicle leaves the factory.
Maybe with new owners things will change for the better.
As i have said before  not only AS have problems.

Agreed Micky.

I can't understand why they don't use the experience of one of their recently retired shop floor blokes to come in part time, and just give the vans a once-over to see if everything works. There's at least a chance that an older chap would have a bit more pride in his work!!!

We took our previous van to France four days after getting it (brand new). As I walked across the Intermarche car park I clicked the fob to unlock the doors. The rear right hand indicator flashed as it should, but the left rear tail light also flashed!!! scratch head

Fortunately it was easy enough to remove the light fittings and swap the connections over, but to find that on the first day of a foreign holiday didn't fill me with confidence. I doubt if a Gendarme would have been sympathetic if he had followed me as I indicted to turn left!!

Did they even pretend to do a PDI I wonder???
