Electric step Empty Electric step

Post by Ballantyne Sat Feb 25, 2017 3:44 pm

Hello,
Please can anyone help us.
The electric step on our Lancashire does not work. We can put up with pulling it out when we park up but while driving if we go over any bumps in the road the step works loose and the warning noise comes on.
We have cleaned underneath but it still won't work. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Possible there is a fuse under the drivers seat that has blown - do a quick check for it

When the step is not fully in and the engine is started, the buzzer sounds. I'm guessing that in your Lancashire the step circuit is fed from the Sargent EM50 unit and if the buzzer sounds then the fuse is ok.

It seems to me that there is a mechanical problem with the step operating mechanism, both preventing electrical operation and creating slack that allows the step to move away from the detection switch whilst the vehicle is in motion.

A physical examination of the operating mechanism is necessary to establish the cause of the problem.

Thank you to Roli. We checked out the fuse under drivers seat and that is ok.
Thank you Peter. We will check the mechanism again.
