WOW......now here IS a rare bird!!!
Spotted on Auto Trader......a real blast from the past! 50 years old next year and looks pretty tidy too. I doubt many of these are left and wouldn't be surprised if it's the only one.

That's a real old van, have seen plenty of old ones here in Bridlington, but that has to be the oldest so far.

memories
My very first motor home was one of these back in the early 80s.
Affectionately known as Jingle, christened by my children because, they informed me, of the sound they could hear as she approached, I think it was the gearbox, as the rear axle sound she also made was more of a lower note !!.
We had her a couple years before she finally expired, but in those 2 years we all had a great deal of enjoyment from this lovely old girl.
Ah memories..................................................

Interestingly it's connected to Autosleeper......
"The Commer was the van Autosleeper built their reputation upon, with it’s distinctive solid-sided raising roof, and long slide windows, the basic design was actually barely altered in well over a decade of production. Of all the many non-coachbuilt conversions the Commer could boast of one of the all time greats – best seller of it’s day, the Autosleeper."
Even an old grainy photograph of the fabrication shop at Willersley in 1960!

I do wish ebay advertisers would pay a little more attention to basic grammar!
"We drove it up from England to Scotland without incident and it drives, white, beautifully...."

Retail price in March 1965 was just £1350. As a comparison the 4 door Morris 1100 was selling at £689 showing that price comparisons between new standard saloon cars (Ford Fiesta or Focus) and campervan prices today are completely off the scale.
